My only reservation about Solly as left back is that we lose too much of everything he has to offer going forward.

I reckon him playing left back in a 4 is temporary.

I can see him playing alongside Cucarella, or other, if we do make another signing in this position

He seems to really understand his role in the side and knows how to contribute to the team. I think some are overrating him but I've no problem at all saying he's played a lot better all of last season and the early stages of this than I thought he was capable of. I wouldn't call him an outstanding Premier League footballer but he's functional and reliable, also a bit unlucky not to get an assist yesterday with some dangerous balls into the box.

I am a critic because he doesnt contribute enough going forward which is not helped by so one footed. However clearly as there big danger was Sarr he was given a role to keep him out of game. A job he did superbly. Looking at MOD he could be doing same against Everton

Not convinced Solly gets the credit he deserves really? He's up there with Peter Ward and Graham Pearce IMO? Came out of non-league to play in the top League.

What should be added is that he was out for half a season and has come back at the level he was before his injury. Year on year he has developed and evolved and yes he may not have that zing that destroyed Birmingham City but he has proved very effective at filling his left (wing) back role where we would have a major gap.

Big news! Solly has been brilliant for us recently, injury problems aside, and I was wondering if he might try and move on after his current contract ended - so great news that he's signed up until 2024.

Great news. Bissouma next on a new long term deal and complete Nunez signing and I'll be very happy.

In the latest video on the club site he says "3, 4 more years".

So it must mean 3 years + a further year option.

I doubt anyone on here will know but I wonder if our new contacts now include a release fee for the players? It wasn’t long ago that Solly said his ambition was to play for a big club, so I assume he has somehow kept that option open?

We are a 'big club' and have been for quite some time now.

Why not just go and put one of your "Potter in or out polls " on..? It's about your only ( very debatable ) use on here. :):)

I guess it depends on the negotiations.

If I was representing the player I would want it.

Amazes me how many players that are nearing an exit yet Graham finds a way, and pulls them back.

Gross, March and now recently Duffy have all been rumoured to leave and now been better than ever!

I read ( pretty certain in The Athletic ) that the club do not entertain release clauses in contracts as they give away control.

We don't do them.

They may say that, but surely it’s negotiation at the end of the day. Lose the player for a smaller sum with a year to go or sign a new contract with a heavy release clause.
