Thing is none of them were the most intelligent or insightful if pundits in analysing the game they were watching but there was a great chemistry between them and that was one of the reasons it is so enjoyable to watch. Mrs Crodo can't stand football but would happily watch 'Jeff and the boys' because it was much more than just reporting on the games they were watching. I doubt whoever they replace them with who may be more articulate and insightful whether the programme will be as entertaining or fun as it has been which is quite sad.

Sky sack Matt Le Tissier, Phil Thompson and Charlie Nicholas from Soccer Saturday team in their efforts towards the BLM campaign and to become more inclusive. Next week's opening Soccer Saturday expected to feature Sue Smith, Clinton Morrison and Matt Murray in their place. Saturday afternoons will never be the same.

What about Merson?

Soccer Saturday has one of the best people on TV in Jeff Stelling and although I'm sad to see Tiss, Nicholas and Thompson get the chop the show should be good provided they bring in other presenters with a sense of humour.

I remember when they used to have Rod Marsh, George Best, Frank McLintock and Gordon McQueen from the 70s. The present crop are star from the late 80s and 90s and it is probably time for some new blood. If they want to go down the BAME/female route then I'd like to see Chris Kamara and Alex Scott come in. A panel of Stelling with Merson, Crouch, Kamara and Scott would be a good watch.

I'm in full agreement that society needs to do more to ensure racial and gender equality, however I'm not convinced the hasty removal of three white men from their post for apparently no other reason that they are white men is the right way to go about it. I'm a white man myself, so maybe that's easy for me to say, but it just feels like the pendulum is swinging a little too far at this moment.

I accept that the world hasn't ever really been a meritocracy, something that's easy for me to overlook from my own personal perspective. However, what we've got now isn't really that either - I thought Le Tissier, Thompson and Nicholas were good at what they did in spite of not necessarily being the most insightful - they brought something to the frenzied nature of the show. I don't think a lack of ability has cost them their jobs.

FWIW, I agree with ideas like the Rooney rule, as it at least creates an environment where BAME people feel like they have a chance where before they did not. Hopefully in time it, along with other initiatives, can redress the ethnic balance in football coaching circles and the wider world of senior management positions. However, let's not pretend that sacking white people for the colour of their skin is right either.

..... and would be a whole lot better with just Crouch, Kamara and Scott

This!! He makes me switch off Talksport.

Although to be fair, most of the presenters and pundits makes me switch off Talksport.

I think today he was combined with Olympic level arse licker Jim Whyte , so it was unlistenable

I don't know if he is thick but Clinton Morrison sounds thick.

I'm going to stick my neck out here, but I quite like Morrison, he's grown on me a lot with much of his radio punditry. He's got a jovial way about him but is quite insightful times, and offers something a bit different. I can see why he is gaining more and more media work.

edit: I don't listen to Talksport so haven't heard him on there! :lolol:

I very much doubt that it is about, or at least primarily about, diversity at all. It will simply be down to costs. Those guys are the A team, they will be on premium wages. You can either cut the cheaper ones, and be left paying these guys even more to cover the shows that the lower level pundits currently do (EFL midweek games, cup days). Or get rid of these guys and pay lower wages for the others to cover these ones. That they have more diversity lower down the pecking order will be something they can use to spin, but I doubt it's the driving force.

Viewership being massively down, plus having an old world view of Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday should be dominating the prem. Saw this coming really.

Can’t really form a view without knowing who the replacements are and also what the old guard were paid
