Brilliant post, The Heed, and I am glad you have put the record straight. I watched the show and believe you acted with dignity since what would the headlines have been if you had kicked that idiot Jordan into touch (as much as we would all like to do it)? We would have all been branded as thugs, as well as gays of course!!

Unfortunately there are many people on NSC who are prepared to criticise other Brighton fans by the way they look, their age, expressing an opinion, and the old "I am a better fan than you are" rubbish!! At the end of the day, we are all fans and part of the Albion family.

If you have any pictures of the show, it would be great if you could add them.

Well done to all the Soccer AM lads and a great record of support for the club over the years.

:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Top effort to one and all. Simon Jordan is a absolute bastard.

Welcome back Kev. Has the financial issue eased slightly now then ? and has the job hunt got any better ?

http://www.theargus.co.uk/news/localnews/display.var.1114275.0.soccer_chiefs_joke_homophobic.php

A football club chairman has sparked outrage after making a "homophobic" remark about Albion fans on TV.

Crystal Palace chief Simon Jordan appeared on Sky Sport's Soccer AM show with actor Nick Moran and Albion "fans of the week".

During the show on Saturday morning, just hours before the Seagulls' FA Cup match with West Ham, Mr Jordan said: "Nick's new play includes a scene where a bloke gets arrested for performing lewd acts in a public toilet - should appeal to the Brighton fans."

The comment has led to anger among Albion supporters and gay rights campaigners.

Lee Burrows, 37, from Hanover, Brighton, who has written to the Football Association (FA) and Sky Sports to ask for an investigation, said: "I was disgusted by Simon Jordan's comments.

A man in his position should be a lot more responsible.

Homophobia should not be tolerated in football in the same way the FA has cracked down on racism."

Peter Tatchell, of gay rights group OutRage!, said: "These comments may appear to be a light-hearted aside but people would not accept similar jokes about race.

"I hope the FA will issue him a stern public rebuke."

Albion chief executive Martin Perry, who sits on the FA's homophobia advisory committee, yesterday promised to raise the matter at the next meeting.

He added: "We are fully aware of this and I think on reflection Simon Jordan might feel it is appropriate to apologise to Brighton fans.

"As a club we are determined to stamp out all forms of discrimination against any sector of society.

Brighton fans are subjected to homophobic abuse perhaps more than any other club. It is not funny and not helped by comments like this from a football club chairman."

But Mr Jordan's publicist Max Clifford told The Argus: "If anybody has seen the programme they will understand it was just a bit of banter. The Brighton fans were jeering Simon and his comment was very much tongue-in-cheek and nothing more."

I agree. Personally I think we're being a little bit too precious about it. Like the time that Grimsby player made nasty gestures at us when we got relegated from the second tier a few seasons back.

He was a Preston player on loan and his chairman at Deepdale did apologise.

Yes he was. However the point I was trying to make was that there was a bit of frothing at the mouth on here over something that, at the end of the day, wasn't that big a deal. Yes he was in the wrong, but it wasn't a hanging offence. Ditto Jordan now.

Scott McGleish didn`t think it was a big deal either but I bet you could get 20 names on here to kick the chair away.

I haven't read anywhere that says he needs to be hung. An apology is what the article said (Simon Barrett btw Biscuit not Naylor)
