The rules were set by scfa,it's their game at the end off the day, they insisted on no flags and that everyone was to sit or be asked to leave.the bar in the south was closed towards the end as Bognor fans couldn't grasp the concept of although it was non-league teams playing the football league regulations still applied as it was a football league ground.

In regards to the alcohol, what will happen in the rugby world cup?

Congratulations. You must be very proud of yourself tonight, keeping those 2000 fans in order, and stopping any flag waving at a cup final. Good job.

I'm working on it as we speak, having a dignified celebration, I won't head into Peacehaven central tonight because if its gets any livelier a funeral might break out.

Great day out, due to the weather, pitch, atmosphere and result,Congratulations to Shaun, his team and all the players, so in reality I've got no complaints at all, as I say a great day out.

but what the hell, here goes, the important bit. We only pay £3 a pint (in a glass) We can stand, and sing and the kids can walk and play where they like, without being told off by stewards with nothing else to do. We can hang up our assortment of eight foot flags without (and I am not joking here) asked to produce my Fire Retardent Certificate. Never got asked that in Le Harve, The Stadio Olyimpico, the Ajax Arena, De Kuip (Rotterdam) Guernsey's 'national' Stadium or even Wembley. We never get threatened with being thrown out if we fail to retrieve a flag being passed over peoples heads 10 rows and one block away. Said flag that cost the supporters sixty quid only a couple of weeks ago has been confiscated and not seen since.

Who cares? like I said, a great day out and the result/performance conquers all, but I cant wait for VCD Athletic away next season!

Congratulations, good result today shame about the flag thing, can't get my head around things like that especially when you see the Kop at Liverpool.

Football without fans is nothing.

Football without flags is nothing.

Abort, retry, fail
There are rules, but banning flags over advertising?

I'm sure the advertisers were grateful, if they knew the match was going on.

Common sense lacking in the stewarding world? Is the Pope Catholic?

The seaside.
Have heard several different Brighton businesses reporting that Bognor fans were the worst they had encountered all season. Reckon it's more likely to have been PL team supporting plastic hooligan wannabes from Bognor/LA area having an end of season blowout rather than genuine Bognor fans...

I have some sympatthy with the Bognor supoorters on the no alcohol in view of the pitch ban for this match. The rules must have been set by either The Albion or SCFA, there are no relevant football league rules stating that if the game is in a football league ground then supporters must adhere to the alcohol ban in site of the grass. As Lord Bracknell pointed out in a thread from 2011:-

"The ban on alcohol only applies to "designated sporting events". These are:-

1. Association football matches in which one or both of the participating teams represents a club which is for the time being a member (whether a full or associate member) of the Football League, the Football Association Premier League, the Football Conference National Division, the Scottish Football League or Welsh Premier League, or represents a country or territory.

2. Association football matches in competition for the Football Association Cup (other than in a preliminary or qualifying round).

I guess if the finalists were Horsham and Lewes, we could drink in our seats. Unless the Club said differently, of course."

So in last years final between the Albion and Bognor the ban was correctly applied, but this year, they obviously have said differently, probably for administrative convenience. Also, Reading have no such ban at the Madjeski when London Irish play rugby there - so ithe rule cant relate to the ground.

Really?

I'd imagine on a hot and sunny weekend most Brighton businesses had no idea that Bognor fans had hit town

Unless your stalking about the 27 Bognor fans who arrived on the 12:24 into Brighton and ran riot.

An Upper Crust spokesman is reported to have said "we only had 26 bacon and brie specials when the Bognor lot arrived mob-handed. We had to send one of them down to Tesco for their selection of pre-filled sandwiches. It was carnage. You don't get this in the Championship."

There is no reason at all that you can't drink alcohol in view of the pitch at women's football either, yet not only was this banned at the recent Amex England v Montenegro World Cup game, but the entire ground was dry (all bars closed). Albion/caterers or FA decision? Similarly, was today an Albion/caterers or SCFA decision? It seems in both cases to be the latter. Still, the Amex is getting an increasing rep as a 'family' rather 'traditional fan' friendly stadium. I'm not taking sides, but this is the way things are going, and it really wouldn't surprise me if they stop selling alcohol at Albion games a few years down the line...

As someone who has has been to games between Worthing and Bognor I can confirm they have a large number of CJTCs who follow them.

Case in point. After full time in the proper match, both sides fans teams played each other in a game at Nyewood Lane. Worthing's keeper was forced to put up with a lage number of Bognor fans hurling abuse at him and lobbing objects at him during the first half. Keep in mind this is a FANS game! Disgusting stuff which was only the tip of the iceberg for what we had to put up with that day. Not nice to see women and children have foul abusive language shouted at them by grown men because of who they support.

Wouldn't go back there in a hurry if we have to play them again, and very happy Peacehaven turned them over!

I remember the Albion youth playing Bognor a few years ago at Eastbourne Borough's ground for the SSC final. There was a crowd of Bognor supporters who were what could only be described as 'louts'.

The name gives it away
I was at the game yesterday with my son and grandson who are big Peacehaven fans, so we got the right result. :clap2:

However I thought it was interesting how many players on both sides ended up with injuries and cramp. One of the Peacehaven players was clean through at one stage and just suddenly pulled up with, I suspect, his ham strings going and took no further part and at least 5 or 6 stoppages were for players rolling about with cramp. I know it was hot but I do wonder if the pitch is the cause of so many of our injuries during the season.

I have been to and have worked several Bognor matches over the years (youth and senior) and there always seems to be about 30 fans who only seem to want to drink beyond their limit and spend the whole game abusing anyone they come across, majority of Bognor fans yesterday were either elderly or families and they were disgusted at the way some of their fans behaved.
