At the game yesterday there was no Strongbow on offer in Dicks, just some horrid sweet cider called Inches.

I thought it might have just been left over stock from the WC games.

But alas the ghastly stuff was for sale on the concourses too.

I had 3 pints of the stuff in total, after the last of said 3 at half time gave me the worst case of heartburn I've ever had.

I went back to the concourse to ask for some milk but they could only point me to the uht stuff on the drink shelves in the SWC we're supposed to use for coffee etc.

I was in a fair amount of distress and even approached by the St John's ambulance thinking I was having heart problems as I was clutching my chest.

Is this switch to Inches cider a permanent change?

If it is I won't be doing any drinking at the ground from now on as I don't like lager or the brown stuff.

Tis a shame as getting to the ground later on trains is a ball-ache.

The bottled Inches is much better than the stuff you get out of the pumps , bit like larger

I'm the opposite. I can't drink Strongbow without feeling sick. I don't drink lager or beer. I hven't had inches at the ground, but did try a bottle of it last weekend from sainsburys. The bottle stuff was fine, so I'm more like to drink at the amex now, though am a little concerned by the comments bout the pumped inches (fnar fnar) not being as good.

Are you sure it was the drink that caused the issues and not the vicious heat?

Assume the lactose milk had been used up at this stage?

As a cider drinker, I've been begging for the club to replace Strongbow since the day the Amex opened.

Inch's certainly isn't Aspalls or Westons but it's a definite upgrade.

A little more on the medium sweet side but its crisp enough and very refreshing. One of the most appley flavoured ciders I've tasted.

While I would never drink Strongbow anywhere else, it's been the only vaguely drinkable thing at the Concourse the last few times I've been. I'm not sure why they choose to filter the Harvey's through the unwashed kit and then leave it to warm up

What I don't understand is why they don't start selling cans and bottles of beer and cider. It would speed
the process up, give people more choice, less training and cleaning needed and less waste in booze and plastics

I'll raise you: "whey don't they let us bring in our own booze of choice"

I haven’t drank cider they stopped selling Woodpecker in those Corona type bottles (the ones you used to get 5p back on) in about 1985.

However yesterday I was given a pint in error instead of the Lager, I drank it and found it quite refreshing on a hot day and even bought a second pint.

I’m off sick today as I’ve been up all night with the worst case of the shits I’ve ever had.

It could have been the heat, it could have been something I ate, however I know where I’m laying the blame (excuse the pun)

Have you tried Fosters? That also tastes like alcoholic piss.

Who cares, it's what he likes! Though l'm amazed to read it took three pints of this other concoction, and a bad case of heartburn, for him to realise how ghastly it was.

In answer to his question though, l've a feeling that Strongbow may have gone the same way as Coke & Fanta, in that the suppliers have changed.
