So where did people catch Covid?

It'll be interesting to see what precautions we use currently that people will continue using post-Covid. I for one will always use a knuckle to press buttons on ATMs, train doors, buses, supermarket self checkout tap screens and the like. I saw a girl use her elbow on a train door button a few days ago.

It’s been mentioned eg on the radio, that handshaking will be a thing of the past, as well as (Brits copying continentals) hugging/peck on the cheek greeting of not close friends.

Another neighbour's elderly dad had a mild stroke. While recovering in hospital he caught Coved and is still in Intensive Care.

Sadly he died this afternoon.

It will pass in time. My gran grew up during the 1918-20 pandemic, and for her whole life she followed extreme hygiene measures that none of the rest of the family did. Now I understand why.

I am both sorry and concerned to read this Uncle C

Following a very recent diagnosis I expect to begin a treatment plan if one is viable early in the new year which will require me to spend time in hospital facilities. My biggest fear is the potential exposure this could introduce me (and my wife) to.

My youngest daughter has been working in a large care home right the way through the pandemic and, up to 2 weeks ago, had managed to remain free of the virus. Her partner then got it at the small printing factory he works at and passed it on to my daughter and their 2 youngest children (2 and 4). Her partner has recovered ok and the 2 little ones just seem to have colds, my daughter however is still getting high temps and feeling crap and has now developed kidney problems. The doctor has put her on antibiotics treating it as a kidney infection but 3 days in and she is still in pain. She is terrified of going into a Covid ward in hospital as she knows what has been happening. Extremely worried for her.

My best wishes, mate.

My son's flatmate got it 6 weeks ago somewhere between his return from work overseas, and his gallivanting after he got back (against the 'guidelines'). He's recovered and didn't pass it on to my son (who has had two tests).

Two neighbours (both working in social services) got it last March but avoided infecting their families. Both recovered.

Meanwhile one of my brothers has been in continuous work, chasing asylum seekers around the South East, but has so far avoided contracting it, ditto his missus who is a radiology nurse (breast cancer X ray work mostly). She is tested regularly, he isn't.

On the balance of probability I have a suspicion I may have caught it at the home game v Sheffield United. On the 23rd I felt a bit rough but just felt like a light cold. Come Boxing day had fuzzy head and aching legs a bit like flu ( had flu jab back in October). At no point did I have a high temp, loss of smell or a persistent cough. By 28th still felt rough so had a test and lo and behold wife and I confirmed positive today.

And the moral of the story you DON'T need to be showing any of the classic symptoms. If in doubt get a test.

My best wishes, mate.

Thanks Harry, thankfully her temperature has stabilized and it looks as though she contracted a Kidney infection which has responded to antibiotics. She feels a bit stronger but is still short of breath although the cough has diminished to what it was. She's talking about when she can return to work so she must be feeling better, but I've told her not to rush it and give her body time to recover.

How would you know where you caught it from ? [emoji2375]

My sister in law was admitted to the RSCH with an unrelated infection, but has proved positive for Covid since due to an admission which was overlooked. Staff are rushed off their feet and bound to make mistakes. Fortunately she hasn't got it badly.

A friend in Kent has it, but it could have been from her children or the fact that she is a dental nurse.

Personally have not caught it neither has my wife, we have not been out since Christmas Eve and only very occasionally prior to that, my friends step father caught it whilst in hospital for an unrelated illness and due to his age was discharged to a hospice to die as he was not responding to medication, this was back in the first wave so hopefully treatment has improved since then?

Another friend stupidly accepted a lift home from a venue with her friend and her husband ( teacher) in their car, three days later admitted to the Covid ward and spent the next ten days in hospital on oxygen etc, But not before passing it on to other family members.

My sons sister and brother in law and nephew caught it from their student daughter/ sister, fortunately no real complications and are now recovering thankfully.

This an interesting thread not that Mrs Blue or I have Covid19 but we both have the common cold at the moment but where could we have caught it after all we have not been in any close contact let alone socialised with anyone since very early December, the only thing I have done is walk the dog, cycle for exercise and been to the shops no more than ten times obviously wearing a face mask using the sanitation stations prior and after any shop plus I have tried to spend no more than 15/20 mins in the shop yet we both have colds.

This leaves me wondering the common cold virus being another variant of Coronavirus is it more easily spread than Covid19 and if not just how much protection dose the above offer

Myself, my other half and two children all had it and it came via the children’s school (infant school).

It spread like wildfire through the school- staff, pupils and parents. Every class was sent home at some point including a week or two where there were hardly any kids in the school at all - this was early/mid November.

Me, my wife, my son and his GF have all tested positive over Xmas. My son and his GF work in retail so that's my best guess where it came from.

Have had 2 colds since March. The latest one I only went in 3 shops masked up, 2 of which made you wash hands before going in.

Strange
