3 years would be a complete joke, most grounds take 18 months,no point beating around the bush. The soon its built the better and that would save us money.

This must be slowest club in living memory in all departments:angry:

I would exspect it done by xmas 2008 or maybe feb 2009:drink:

Maybe you underestimate the complex of the required land levelling that needs to happen prior to any construction ?

And upgrading the traffic interchange.
And getting Falmer station up to scratch.
And choosing the net curtains.

The farmer has to be given proper notice as a tenant.

This is not Gospel:

July 07 YES
July - July 08 Send docs out to tender - arrange demolition work
July 08 July 09 Accept tender start demolition groundworks road construction
July 09 July 10 Build stadium finish off roads car parks etc

August 10 First game ALL BEING WELL and no hunny badgers found on site

Would certainly be a record breaker for the logest tender period.

More likely a 2 month period for dusting the tender docs down and some amendments, a 6 week tender period, month evaluation and appointment so say 5 months tops before action. Reckon the enabling works would take quite some time though.

So, even assuming we get a 'yes' sometime next week, it'll not be ready for the start of the season in August?

Granted it takes time to build a new ground from scratch, but they must already have the architects drawings and an idea of who is likely to tender for the work, thought that McAlpine were favourites.

Gloucester Rugby Club are building a new main stand, the old one and some nearby buildings were flattened about 3 months ago, drove past last night and all the steelwork and some of the pre-formed concrete sections are already in place...it is certainly past the "do you know what it is yet" stage. Apparently the new stand will be ready for the start of the season in the autumn, pretty impressive, or at least it should be.

surely it has to be one of the longest buildings in living history to get planning permission

It's not that long. Wembley is a lot longer I should think.
