So what should I be listening to?

Sitting at home enjoying a few beers and playing some music.
Can't help realising that my musical collection pretty much ends with the 70's and although I've got some more recent bits and pieces like Christine & The Queens; Hozier; Lukas Graham and so on I really don't have a clue what is considered "current" and worth listening to.

So perhaps the musical literati of NSC who haven't got better things to do could recommend some acts worth downloading so I can try to get myself up to speed?

If you're after something with a bit more meat to it and a voice that will blow you away then another Londoner Michael Kiwanuka is a good shout. This song is a slow burner and really kicks in after 6 mins

Woodkid is a young French bloke who moved to Swindon and I'm hoping he becomes a big name soon. It's worth checking out all his videos and also the acoustic versions

Two recent albums by artists who have been around forever that prove they've still got it and then some are Paul Simon and Leonard Cohen. I reckon that the Paul Simon could almost be as good as Gracelands.

well most of my music is 70's and 80's dire straights billy joel etc..I find my sons nicking my music for their i pods.. lets be honest we had the best music this modern sh*t is just noise.....

I think all the ones I have liked have been yours. Many others post a lot of techno dance music that leaves me cold - the perils of old age

It's a matter of taste though and it is picking up on those points where both yours and someone else's bisect. I listen to a number of radio shows online and if I find I like 20% of the playlist then that's considered a very good week. As someone who can be a bit obscure in their tastes the main reason I post is in the hope that somebody else may like it too, but then to me music has always been about sharing.
