It seems as though the club are prepared to forego the 1st few fixtures and leave any possible signing until the last moment

Its never as simple as that. Players and agents know how to play the game. In an ideal world we'd land all our targets at the start of the window, and crack on with pre-season with our new boys getting integrated into the squad. The reality is that the players and agents hold all the cards, and its in their interest to hold off committing, in the hope of an auction getting underway which they can then inevitably cash in on. PARTICULARLY when it comes to the most valuable commodity - strikers.

Unless you're prepared to pay loony-tunes fees like taking a £33m punt on a second division striker, this is how it'll always play out. Its not BHA's fault the transfer window closes 3 weeks after the season starts.

It is what it is.

I think this whole "we're happy to wait to make a signing, we won't be rushed and we're happy to rely on what we have for the first few games" is, for the most part, a front by the club so they don't seem desperate to any potential sellers. I'm sure they'd have much rather had this whole thing wrapped up weeks ago and are working hard to remedy it. We can all see from here that we haven't got enough options up top, I'm sure they can as well

What are the odds Somebody on this thread has correctly suggested a player we're actually trying to sign , I never thought I'd see the day :lolol:

Just signed for Hajduk Split apparently

Nevermind, no use crying over Split Milik

sorry

I’m not seeing anything saying he’s signed for them. Still an unrealistic suggestion he’ll be on mega bucks at Napoli and beyond our wage structure. He’ll go to a champions league club

I think you'll find that the OP was using it as a vehicle for a rather weak dairy related pun. Edam well ought to apologise for the confusion.

We formally enquired about King about a month ago. Wouldn’t surprise me.

What about that Napoli player Milik? Last year of his contract, move to Roma or Juve hasn't materialised and is refusing to extend his contact. Was at Ajax before 2016 (so would know Veltman), can get for around £26m? Wasn't there a rumour that we were looking at Italy for our striker?

Although saying all the above, Spurs are the favourites to sign him now.

Wow.

What-A-Player!

Just what we need.

A left footed inch taller Murray clone but 10 years younger!

If this guy joins we are going places.

In addition, he clearly wants to play in the Premier League, not sure he’d enjoy keeping the Spurs bench warm though. It would be a tough choice between this fella and Maupay if we were playing with one up front.

I loves him.

Sensible post. I am a regular reader of yours. Comedy and sense. Wordsmithery and substance.

Take a bow.

I’m hoping he would be 4th choice. Long time to go in the window all the mug clubs have shelled out for the likes of Wilson & Watkins the latter looks far to light weight for the PL, Wilson hardly prolific. So that’s two probable rivals budget gone we might end up being the smartest yet.
