24,784 so not bad... Probably about what we would get against a team like Forest (assuming we had the 31k capacity etc.).

Now the Coventry game on the other hand - 14,219 in a similar sized stadium.........

Im not defending Saints, far from it, but times are very very hard atm and when you have a family to feed at home sometimes football has to take second place.

I think if all things were equal - same position in the league etc, same stadium capacity, we have shown we will have more fans......

Why ? They have a bigger stadium and they have filled it on a regular basis. What's the point at sniping at SCC when at the end of the season they will always have a bigger aggregate gate than we will ? Now if you were to say the same about Portsmouth of Palace you would be right but you need to accept that SCC are bigger than us. In saying that it makes us being top of the league just that little bit better.

The Dell in the glory PL years only had a capacity of 15,000, so never an inherent massive support.
Not a massive city & catchment - 239,700 pop'n and Eastleigh 121,000, and some other small towns, with the vast majority like in Sussex not following the local team, or football at all.

Albion catchment of Littlehampton to Hastings, to Horsham, H.Heath, and beyond, is vast.

I think they are doing quite well in fairness - right now we are behind them in terms of capacity and attendance and all power to their elbow on getting backsides on seats. On the pitch where it matters we are ahead :)

Allowing for The Withdean years and The St Mary's factor for Southampton
The all time League Average's are as follows
All Time English League Attendance Records - Electronic Arts UK Community

Need to see how this all settles down in the modern era.
I remember records books had vast old crowds at Charlton, Portsmouth & Chelsea, and some northern (small town) clubs.
The records also disguise that massive clubs like Liverpool & Spurs, (and same effect from Withdean on us) are constrained over the years by grounds far smaller than the demand. Until they have a ground like Southampton which in excess of their modern fan bases, we won't know the true support.

Yes-i believe our home average was something in the region of 12,600 when we left the Goldstone-

Reading have shot up from in the region of 7,500 to their current 9,000 odd-

Brighton and a few seasons of crowds over 15,000 should see our average get up to in the region of 13,500-

Look at the mighty,deluded-Palace....35 seasons in the top 2 divisions and their all time average is 15,700....only 4,700 more than us-amazing-i put it down to much larger away support:lolol:
