Scottish managers tend to periodically flip-flop between management/assistant management/media so have no problem whatsoever with telling it like it is. Its exactly what the club needs right now.

Bloom is not going to appoint another manager who argues and disagrees with him, surely that is obvious? I'd suggest Oscar got wind of this very early on and kept his head down and got on with it then quit at the first opportunity, hence the Bloom remarks about "difficult to communicate with"

I also think finding a position on the coaching staff for Adam Virgo would be no bad thing, he clearly has an excellent understanding of the game

i just don't think the current set up would attract a decent manager with a proven record.

Surely there's no money after FFP, summer signings and the loanees wages. Plus any pay off for Hyppia.

IMO The only saving positives right now for an incoming manager are;
- The squad is better than the league position
- They can't be blamed for the current league position


Unless the player recruitment and team management disconnect is sorted out, then no decent manager will want to be here for the long term. Steve Clarke has already been burnt due to this sort of set up at WBA.

The type of strong and experienced character we probably need as manager to lift the players, turn our season around and hopefully fire us into next seasons play offs is also less likely to be the compliant wallflower willing to submit to the constraints placed on him at the Albion. Poyet started to flex his muscles and it all ended in acrimony.

It all rather points to another lightweight young, ambitious candidate who is willing to wear a straightjacket in return for the 'golden' opportunity to get a step up the managerial ladder. It should be regarded as a peach of a job for any decent managerial candidate but our track record should also pose some serious questions as to what they are letting themselves in for.

Although Oscar's style of football often failed to get the juices going, we punched a bit above our weight, got into the play offs and never really flirted with relegation. Yes, on paper he had a stronger core of key players, but several of these failed to maintain the standards they displayed under Gus. He had contend with mending lots of collateral damage from Gus's departure, the disruption caused by long term injuries and the Bridcutt / Buckley sagas. He also saw prospective signings fail to arrive. With hindsight his reign actually looks quite canny and probably deserves more credit.

where exactly do you get the idea Oscar is the sort to argue and disagree? certainly not from his demeanour on the touchline, his previous or prior appointments. as a player from a club dominiated by strong ownership structures, he would have been comfortable, even expecting a reduced role in overall activity. its the european way. he went because he wasnt up to the pressure and demands, as we now know partially physically.
