3 different options or possibilities.

1, If you estimate what it would cost to buy a player of similar ability = £3m
2. Sensible price to recoup our losses £800k +
3. Zero cos he takes up the employees option of 12 months maternity leave after his baby is born, unless we agree to release him free.

Are you sure about number 3. I ask because a contact with a football club is not the same as a contract of employment that you and I have. And also, isn't it a 12 week option, not 12 months? I thought companies only had to agree for up to 12 weeks unpaid...

Surely if he is on a substantial wage, we'd cover our losses at least. Say we've paid - covering all areas - 2million for him that we'd expect that in reutrn?

Hes not.

I don't think its about the money for Vicente, does not seem a man who only plays for the money. He if he goes will stay in Spain and after all the hard work we have put we with the fitness regime, wages when not playing for months will deserve something back IMHO.

You lot think someone with less than a year on his contract, made around 10 appearances last season, and has quite a severe injury record would get the same as Elliott Bennett ?

Two words - Adam Virgo.

I also think you need to give notice before you want to start your leave, and it has to be agreed by both parties.

I am not sure I thought that the firm had to keep your job open for 12 months but it would be unpaid leave. I am not certain as rules and regulations have changed since I was last employed having been retired for 10 years nearly. You could well be right but I just thought that it was an option that he might follow if we became awkward and stopped him playing.

I don't disagree with your point, but Elliott was sold too cheaply.

Public School Boy & Wozza, what are you thinking, you'd be happy to let him goto Palace in return for Murray and/or for any money? The absolute must in all of this, is if he goes, its not to a Championship club & especially not Palace. I would personally puke every day for a week if he joins them.

£500k would seem about right. Great player, but the wrong side of 30, with a poor injury history, and he IS in the last year of his contract!

No-one will pay milyons for him, and I don't think we'd stand in his way demanding it, but by having him under contract, then we will get some money in to reflect the work we did on his fitness, and for bringing him to the attention of clubs as a player who can still cut it.
