It's frightening. I done all four. Two were three day events and Athens & Rome were 7 day holidays with the wife. I used my card for nearly everything (Nationwide no fees) so I know what I spent.
My total outlay via bank statements was £4405 including travel, hotel and all food & drink. Being retired, I didn't need to take holiday time off.
With Marseille & Ajax costing around £650 each I could have cut this to £2600 I guess had I dumped the wife.
The pros.
I've never been to any of these cities before. Had a wonderful time. Will return to Amsterdam as it was so welcoming plus, now I see how easy it is to jump on a plane, watch out Europe here I come.
Cons
£4405 would get me two weeks on a sandy hot beach.

For 4 bags you could have had 3 weeks in Australia with a nice air bnb gaff!

So if you add the cost of the 4 home matches (x 2) plus travel, beer, food, etc you are looking at £5k - still hoping we get into Europe next season?😉

The reality is we got incredibly lucky as fans with the draw. We could’ve spent thousands on trips to some dreadful places, instead we got to go to 4 places that you’d absolutely choose to go on holiday to football aside.

We also did Marseille by having a day either side of the game in Paris. Couldn’t have been better tbh.

I did Marseille with a day either side in Nice which was a beautiful city, 100% would go back at some point.

Conversely, I did none of the aways and none of the homes.

I’ve just done a quick ‘back of fag packet’ calculation and early indications are that it cost me f*** all, which falls nicely within my budget.
Although I did buy a few extra beers to accompany the dodgy stream viewing. So, maybe £20.

Two home games vs Marseilles and Roma = £1000s, lol. But they represented a couple of highlights wrapped inside longer UK vacations that included a week in Edinburgh, the Highlands and Skye.

Leaving tomorrow for London for some shows and as yet unexplored museums & neighbourhoods, then ✈️ back home Thursday to Canada, the kids and the job.

I feel Brighton is my home away from home, at least as far as England is concerned! Love it here 🌈 ❤️ 😎 👍

Loose change for me compared with others on here. Three of us went by car to Amsterdam via Le Shuttle. Stayed at a hotel for Wednesday and Thursday nights and returned Friday. All in all, with petrol, hotel, food, booze and match ticket the cost was around £600. :drink:

From what I've heard, divorce would likely have outweighed your short-term saving, so you made the right call.
