Dickinson is what, 18? Bit harsh to include him in the poll.

SHIT signings:
Dobbie, Hoskins, CMS (based on the fee), Harley, Lopez, Hammond, Crofts, Sandaza, Holroyd, Hendrie, Arismendi, Vincelot, Baz, Battipiedi, Paynter, Reyes (2nd time round), Carole, Naisbitt (who), Gonzalez, Assulin, Razak, Bergkamp, Agdestein, Poke

Good signings:
Greer, Painter, Calderon, Ankergren, Kuzczak, Bruno, Bridge, Mattock, Noone, Buckley, LuaLua, Barnes, Bridcutt, Kishishev

somewhere inbetween - everyone else

Sadly, I agree. But i'd put Orlandi in the 'good' bracket, as he's starting to look like a decent player given the minimal fee.

Players like Lopez may well be 'ok' Championship players, but he won't be here on the cheap, given he's been playing la liga football. Likewise players like Dobbie (never been played, so wasting money as it is), Harley cost us 500k and is on fairly heavy wages, Hoskins could cost us 750k which is more than Deeney (who took us apart on Saturday) and so on.

A lot of poor players on that list.

How has Orlandi got more votes than Greer? God, people are so thick.

And Marcos Painter! He's only got 63%!

Our fan-base is f***ing clueless sometimes. The bloke was probably our most consistent defender the year we won League One and came in on the (relatively) cheap. He's also still adequate back-up at this level as he's proved in the few games he's had.

Seriously, how can you say Naisbitt was a shit signing? He was brought in as cover in case of injuries. There were no injuries so he didn't feature.

Sandaza did what he was brought in for and scored a couple of crucial goals, Hammond has done enough to be in the somewhere inbetween (if not good signings) list, Vincelot did enough last year for the £100K we paid to be in the ok/good signings. Most of the rest were free transfer gambles or loan signings so hardly fair to compare while most of this summer's signings should be given time rather than written off already.

Goalkeepers
Casper Ankergren - Good
Michael Poke - didn't work out
Peter Brezovan - Good
Danny Naisbitt (loan) - Back up, not used unfair to judge
David Gonzalez - Not as awful as painted, but it didn't work out long term
Steve Harper (loan) - Good player
Tomasz Kuszczak - Good

4-2 (not judging Naisbitt)

Defenders
Inigo Calderon - good
Gordon Greer - good
Marcos Painter - good (he may not be popular in the championship, but we signed him in league one and did well, did well for a few games this year)
Joe Mattock (loan) - Good
Jara Reyes (loan)
- Good
Bruno - Good
Wayne Bridge (loan) - Good

7-0

Central Midfielders
Radostin Kishishev - Good
Lee Hendrie (loan) - I'm marking this as a good signing. You can't criticise gus's signing a good player who doesn't live up to expectations
Liam Bridcutt - Good
Diego Arismendi (loan) - I think he was better than I remember others thinking, I say this is a good signing, but like hendrie didn't live up to expectations
Matt Sparrow - Good
Augustin Battipiedi - Didn't work out
Romain Vincelot - good
Ryan Harley - Didn't work out, would like to have seen him given a run
Abdul Razak (loan) - Good, started strong, tailed off, then ended, but as a signing it was a good one at the time
Andrea Orlandi - Promising, so good
David Lopez - Promising, so good
Andrew Crofts [x2] - Premier league experience, some performances that are underrated, I'm saying good
Dean Hammond (loan) - experience getting promoted from championship, underrated performance, some poor performances, but I'm going good on this as it's a loan

11-2

Wingers
Sebastien Carole [x3] - Didn't work out this time
Craig Noone - Good,
Christian Baz - didn't work out
Vicente - good player, good performances, so good
Will Buckley - good
Kazenga LuaLua - good
Gai Assulin (loan) - not bad, but not sure it was enough to be good

4-3

Forwards
Fran Sandaza - Generally good, some key goals
Chris Holroyd - Harshly rated by fans, but didn't work out for him
Ashley Barnes - good
Chris Wood (loan) - good
Craig Mackaill-Smith - good
Will Hoskins - Could still come good if given a chance, not sure he will get that though
Roland Bergkamp - bought as one for the future, can't rate him
Torbjorn Agdestein - Bought as one for the future, but managed a few first team appearances, going with good
Ben Dickenson - bought as one for the future, can't rate him
Billy Paynter (loan) - his lack of goals over shadows a decent contribution, I'm saying a good signing
Sam Vokes (loan)
- is lack of goals over shadows a decent contribution, I'm saying a good signing
Stephen Dobbie - Could come good if given a chance

7-1 (plus Hoskins and Dobbie on the wait and see list, and Bergkamp and Dickenson on the 'for the future so not to be judged now' list)

33-8 (5 unrated)

16 for me .... oh my :/

Not sure how anyone can get that low. I went for 25 and thought that was low. Surely all 7 defenders should get a yes from everyone, in goal Brezovan, Ankergren and Kuszczak have all done a good job for us so that is 10 already. In midfield, Bridcutt, Kishishev, Orlandi, Noone and Buckley all seem obvious. Vicente is debatable but just seeing him play for us last season was enough to say yes while Sparrow and Vincelot both did a good job for us last season considering they were free/cheap. Hammond I also think has done well and I also put LuaLua down. Up front, it is hard to argue that Barnes has been a good signing considering how much he cost. Wood got 10 goals for us on loan which was very good and considering Sandaza/Agdestein were free/cheap, I think they have done enough to make them good signings. The controversial one is CMS but I think he has done okay and it sounds like there is a fair chance we will get our money back.

Of the rest, a lot were loans/free transfer gambles and I am confident that the likes of Crofts, Dobbie, Lopez and Hoskins will be better in the second half of the season. It is certainly not worth writing them off as bad signings yet.

I would suggest your stalking of my posts is a little tiresome when you're having to question my criticism of the signing of a player not a man on this message board wouldn't recognise by name, let alone if they saw him in Tesco.

Vincelot played about 15 games and has been shipped out to Gillingham.

Justify why you haven't included Painter.

Did you not have a S/T at Withdean?

For our own players (not loan) I've gone for their whole time with us not just based on 1 season.

So... why haven't you included painter, who played a part in the great start to last season before getting injured, and who when he played for us this season we didn't concede a goal, and generally received good reviews?

:lolol:

So you're saying the bloke who started EVERY league game in a side that went up as champions and was probably the most reliable left-back that we had during the Withdean Years was not a good signing? Not to mention that whenever he's been called upon in the Championship he's given steady performances.

Just because he's not the the left-back we need to get us out of this division doesn't mean he wasn't a GOOD signing. He was signed as a left-back to get us out of League One and to help us compete in the Championship - he's done that - therefore a good signing.

If you can't see that you've got seriously blinkered judgement of what constitutes a good signing. Either that or you've got an irrational dislike for Painter.

Good bad or indifferent, what really matters is how they play as a team and can the manager get the best out of them?
That is the big question mark for me and doubts remain.

FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
Does not matter who they are, the players he has brought in has moved us from the Bottom of League 1 to the the fringes of the play offs and a major force in the Championship in Under 3 years.

TOP WORK :)
