There are plenty of options from the Championship, but none of them compelling.
We've taken a bit of a gamble with our forward options and now need to trust to luck a little.
Oh and anyone suggesting we just need to get through to the start of Jan when our much longed for striker will just arrive in time for our first match in January hasn't been paying attention to how our January business, if there is any, usually works

Aren’t prices for the best that are left likely to take a big jump now that the market place has shrunk to just the football league? I can’t see us paying over the odds which I imagine we’d have to if we try and sign one of the best of the rest.

I'd take Henry from Brentford, but i'm struggling to think of anyone else that fits what we need. Benrahma would be nice but def not for the money they want for him.

He scored 3 against Liverpool having failed to score in the previous matches. I wouldn't be surprised if Maupay outscores him over the course of the season, it's already 4-3 in Maupay's favour. Watkins for £30m and £70k per week (minimum) was never going to be the sort of boom or bust deal that our football club should be involved in. As good as the player MIGHT be, it was a deal which made no sense to anyone with an eye on sustainability.

This year's Jan window could well be a little different depending on COVID and which clubs are starting to feel the financial pinch (sad to say, but true).
I'm not expecting any big bucks to get thrown around but I wouldn't rule out a cheeky signing.
