Say what you want. I was fuming after how we set up and failed to adapt to Forest. It was niave and embarrassing and it followed rumours of discipline issues in the team and a number of frustrating results at home. I think with my heart during results like that, rather than my head and that is why I don't run a football club. So in short, do one to all these 'fans of the year' using the benefit of hindsight, to try and put others down for sharing their frustrations and opinions in a fans forum.

Just far enough away from LDC
To add some balance, I did say i didn't think our performance last Saturday was as good as people were making out. Last night our 1st half was as good as our second last Saturday and our second half were levels above that.

I still wouldn't have a dig at people who got upset at the 7nil defeat and the manner of it because they were right to be and it would seem the players were upset and angry and they are turning it around.

Lovely bit of after timing here

He has turned it around over the last couple of games and they are playing for him end there’s some order in the tactics / set up

But let’s not pretend the signs weren’t there that he had lost their faith with the performances, the tactics (1 man midfield) and multiple disciplinary issues.

However he had the testicular fortitude to literally set fire to the tactics and revert to a compact set up that saw him well at St Pauli, fair play to the young man, only 31 apparently!

Sheets dry but need a wash

It is actually astonishing to think of what was being posted on here just 10-12 days ago.

Football eh?
Was is astonishing though, really? We had just suffered our worst defeat in 65 years due to one of the most bizarre team selections any of us can remember.

We had also just seen a run of two league wins in ten and we’re moving steadily down the table.

Frankly it would have been more astonishing if there hadn’t been a reaction like there was.

Extreme low followed by extreme high. . . .

We'd been on a poor run and the questions were justified. Beating Fulhams scummy neighbours twice in a week is fantastic by anyones standards, but we're still a work in progress. . Bmuff at home will be more of a test.

A couple of euro 6 pointers coming up vs Muff and Fulham let’s hope it continues

I certainly wet the bed after the Forest game.
It's unusual for me, always been a licker, and proud of it.
I have been to most games this season and seen a lot of inconsistent, incohesive play, alongside moments of excellence.
I remained squarely on the fence about Huerzeler and I had been prepared to wait and see.

The home losses to Palace and Everton and insipid performances against West Ham, Southampton., were very worrying signs as we rounded the half way point of the season. Obviously there included some excellent moments against Norwich, United and Ipswich too/

But Forest was a bridge too far for me.
The tactics were naive and seemed extremely arrogant to me.
I found it completely unforgiveable at the time and said so ( alot).

However I wasn't calling for his head.
I wanted to see a reaction.

And I've seen that.
It may well have been that the Forest Debacle, was a necessary moment for players and coaches to have it out with each other and set a few things straight.

The last two games have been the most cohesive, consistent and impresssive performances of the season.
Something has changed.

Maybe a collective wetting of the bed, was necessary?
Who knows.

Was the 7-0 defeat a blessing in disguise? The players and management learnt a serious lesson from that drubbing and as professionals they responded in exactly the right way. The FA Cup has been a real benefit this year as it has given us the opportunity to build our confidence. Young manager and young team have shown real character and I for one am proud of them.

yeah I think it has.

Suspect there was a first real honest exchange of opinions between the players and coaches which has cleared some heads.

If so, that's a very, very good sign.

The real test comes next week though.

I can well understand the questioning of tactics and so on - especially after such a defeat.

I think I was more commenting on the disaster scenarios put forward by quite a few posters - with everything that could be dreamt of going wrong being wrong and so on.

I think the thread title is unnecessarily divisive. We're all Brighton fans and we all want what's best right?

For the record, my posting history will back up that i've always been behind the manager even after the Forest debacle

multiple disciplinary issues.
Were there multiple disciplinary issues or was it just internet nonsense?

We know that Minteh was dropped for being late. But in a squad of young players it doesn’t seem surprising to have the odd issue like and it’s hardly a sign of a bigger problem. He was late, he was dropped as punishment for one game and seems to have taken it on the chin and knuckled down judging by the performances he’s putting in.

Is there any evidence that any of the other rumours are true?

This is a good point. Terms like lickers, bedwetters, woke, gammon etc tend to get used as a lazy response rather than actually engaging in a sensible debate.

We had gone on a run of 15 points from 14 games culminating in a 7-0 loss at Forest. So some criticism and concern was hardly unjustified (although in my view far too early to be thinking about sacking the manager). As for sticking together and backing the manager, this is important in the ground but not really important on a forum.

In football, as in real life, labelling people derisively is just entirely unhelpful

Agree. The criticism was entirely justified, albeit that the fact that we've had the most injuries in the division should be taken into account. But calling for the manager to be sacked was always a massive overreaction.

Thankfully we're run by Bloom and Barber, who can see past one or two games. Remarkably they seem to be very good at seeing past one or two seasons

Back on the fence for me but that is who I am. It is either black or white, brilliant or utter cack. There is no middle ground for me but I suppose fence is middle ground, lol
