just been to Devil's Dyke in my lunch break, thick snow, 2inches 5 cm lying snow not melting at all temps 0C 32F, loads of people bunking off work and school sledging and about 10 snowmen hanging around, thick clouds to North looks like another dump is on the way

I had a healthy dump earlier, probably a good 10 inches worth.

From the Met Office : NO severe weather warnings and the following forecast :

A few further wintry showers.

Today:
A few sleet and snow showers for England and Wales, some heavy across eastern England. Becoming brighter at times in the west though. Northern Ireland and Scotland largely dry, with bright spells.

Tonight:
Sleet or snow showers across E.England, with heavy snow showers across the far southeast leading to significant accumulations in parts of Kent. Elsewhere mostly dry and frosty, with clear spells.

Thursday:
Southeast England snow showers, some heavy. Lighter sleet or snow showers across East Anglia and northeast England. Northwest Scotland cloudy with occasional drizzle. Otherwise dry, bright or sunny spells.

Kent and Sussex I think you'll find. Kent will get the most but we are in for a dump mark my words , I expect 3 inches 7 cm in the Brighton area tonight
