I've decided this is the one I'm going to buy.
Asked my wife where ours came from and apparently she got it as a free gift for getting sent a catalogue over 30 years ago
It still gets used 30 years on, and so it seems in this instance, you don't get what you paid for

This one is £20 and is massive. Easily does enough for 6+ adults, works brilliantly would highly recommend. Had mine for 5+ years never an issue.
I bought mine in a charity shop for £5 (brand new). Searing the meat is not necessary, just bung the meat or poultry in. Veggies don't do so well.

Works OK.
Exactly this. Spending more doesn't mean they last longer either. I wouldn't spend more than a tenner either. If i get a few years out of it then you can't really grumble. Same with washing machines. I never take out insurance either.Argos do one for £9.99. Why pay more?

The Morphy Richard's 'sear and stew' slow cooker is excellent - it cost just under £30
The beauty of it is that you can sear your meat on the hob in the slow cooker pot first
Little Ali and me cheered when Mrs Ali told us the slow cooker had packed up. Unfortunately it has been replaced! I understand that they are handy for us as we are all out all day at work, but really don't like chicken cooked in it. Veg currys are excellent though. This searing of the meat people are mentioning, does this stop the meat drying out? (I am not a cook)
Just get a take away menu out ,much cheaper and saves on electric

Was there not a piece on TV not so long ago saying that slow cookers do not kill bacteria as they do not get to the required temperature to kill it.
