Its more a question of having anyone who will take the job. We really are the bottom of the pile now , a complete mess.

No-ones first choice but at least he does have a "been there, done that" track record.
Just hope there is enough time for him (or whoever it is) to make an impact.

sounds ok to me but then Wilkins is a good young manager who 'nearly took us into the championship'.

Yeah alot of their stories seem to have no comment/quote from the club. Interesting bit saying the Club WILL appoint someone in time for Sat.

As for the club being pissed off with the Argus does not end there. I know someone who works for SCR and he says they don't communicate well with them at all. I also know that the club was getting annoyed with a certain national station phoning up late on a friday to try to get interviews with Adams. On the other hand the media are generally twats so who can blame them really?!

Out of all the candidates that are left he's probably my favourite. I'd like to know why he was sacked from Yeovil though as, like Wilkins, it wasn't because of bad results.

At least he's not on a downward slope like Pardew, a serial failure like Holloway or a possible one-hit wonder like Boothroyd.

I've resigned myself to the fact that it will probably be slade, all our other targets have ruled themselves out and unless there's someone we don't know about he seems to be the only one left in the running.

If he is appointed everyone needs to get behind him and not get on his back straight away like our last two managers.

Rather Slade than Alan " I'm a ****" Pardew or Ian "I'm a right joker me" Holloway

I hope they're right. He'd do me unless Gannon changes his mind.

It'll be a short term appointment, then whoever gets THAT job will be in place for a full time post IF/WHEN we save our current status.

Though RS seems to be the front runner right now,I can reveal that I am available at the drop of a hat,and finished in 24,876th place in the Times Fantasy league last season. So not to be sniffed at Mr.Knight,or can I call you Dick, now?

It could be fun and games for the rest of the season.
In the relegation zone, with a management and coaching team of Russell Slade, "he looks like a right" Charlie Oatway, Dean White and Bob Booker

That is the real problem, isn't it. I am not sure Adams was the issue. If we had got rid of White and Booker and brought in a new backroom staff I think we would have been okay.

Not sure whether bringing Slade in for the season (with no long term security) and leaving the same backroom staff is the answer.

What is the problem with Russell Slade? Ok he isn't a household name, but although Tony Adams, Bryan Robson, etc are, they are all shite managers. There is no guarantee that Ince will do any better. Pardew is a man on the way down.

If you look at Slades record it stands up. Particularly in getting teams out of trouble and getting results. It may not be pretty, the style of play maybe just to get results. But hey, look at the table its results we need.

Maybe Slade isn't the type of manager who will do well in the Championship, but we are a long long way from that.

I say give Slade the job until the end of the season. Get results, stay in this league, steady the ship and then lets have a look again in the summer.

Nonsense. Christ how many unemployed managers are there? We may be in the relegation zone but we're not down yet. We have a decent squad who have under performed and a healthy budget for players compared to many in the division plus a new 22,000 stadium on the way. Cheltenham may be bottom of the pile but we certainly are not.

I agree completely. It sounds like he has a good record and getting Yeovil to the League 1 play offs is a fantastic achievement after which he lost two of their best players to Forest but still kept them up last year and looks like he would have done so again.

As stated above, my worry is not Russell Slade but that he will almost certainly be working with the same backroom staff as Adams. I think that the backroom staff were the problem and we need a clear out.

I would also question the logic of giving him a six month deal. Surely, if he keeps us up he deserves more time and if we go down will we get anyone better? I would give him an 18 month deal, which at least brings stability.
