I have just enjoyed Noddy Holder's Top 50 Xmas songs and it reminded me of this... (Slade were no. 1 for those that did not view it.....obviously)

I went to that gig, it was at the Top Rank Suite, and some of the girls started throwing there knickers at Noddy Holder, then after a while all us guys realised that.............hang on a minute!!!..........if shes just chucked her knickers at him........she aint wearing any...........every time this happened ......there was a big surge towards the girl who chucked them........it was incredible........so funny







Oh................and i got a shag on the beach that night !!!!!

Seriously I was also at the top Rank for the Slade gig( and the game at the goldstone)...bloody excellent. Slade was my first band that I really used to follow, saw them in the very early 70's in Bristol when we lived down thatway...went in with a couple of mates and the whole place was full of skinheads



Also at the goldstone, I remember as they left the "stage" the NorthStand singing " Go home, ya bums"

Even in those days, pop was a fickle business. Just a year or so before and Slade were the biz but, by this time, they had become 'uncool' in todays terms.

...

I remember them getting a big build-up on the PA, and when they came out they were met with indifference and a few boos. As you say if they'd done it two or three years earlier the place would have gone beserk. However I do remember by the end they'd pretty much won over the North Stand, especially those who were keen to get themselves filmed.

they did...and so bizzarely did the Specials, which seeing as three of the original band were black, I found very strange.

a lot of the early skins circa 69 were into the Afro caribbean ska sound

Cum on feel the noize is one of the all time greatest pop anthems in my opinion.

I'll give you that one.

I just hope we don't hear it when a goal goes in at Falmer!
