Seriously thinking of doing the same. :glare:

It really needs a concerted effort from a large percentage of subscribers to cancel the sports package, then SKY may realise we are not prepared to line the pockets of the Premiership millionaires.

Didn't they try and do you a deal? I did the same and they offered me the full package that I had (Sports plus movies) which should have cost £42 a month, for £30 a month for 12 months.

They are just the same as mobile phone operators, if you haggle, there is scope.

Passing the costs of losing Virgin Media on to their customers, tut tut

No news as yet if these price increases will be passed also on to VM customers BUT I'm not holding my breath

We told them we were thinking about leaving Sky, so they gave us Sky+ for free which wasn't too bad.

Sky is getting stupidly pricey nowadays, I remember back in 2001 the FULL package was something like £30 a month.

Bullshit alert! Bullshit alert!

There is no way to get Sky for free, simple as. Cable, yes; Sky no.

Is the correct answer

So, is my subscription about to go up then? I already have Sky+ so how are they going to pacify me?

Thats down to Sky getting a rise in the rate book, the two other (tiny) cable companies in the UK will be rising the prices identically - SmallWorld and WightCable.

Years ago I used to have a little box that you connected to the back of the cable box that unscrambled EVERYTHING. I just subscribed to the basic package, but got Sky movies, sports, porn, box office, the works. Paid about a hundred quid for that box and got about 18 months use out of it before it got rumbled and all the Premium channels were scrambled. Those were the days.

Once they scrambled the channels though, I found I couldnt do without them, so I upgraded my Sky box and Im a legit subscriber now (minus the porn, couldnt quite get that past her).

Well, that was worth a call, they just gave me £8.50 off a month till January.

Easy10, that would have been in the days before Sky Digital, when you could unscramble the signal. Nowadays, the signal is not scrambled, it is the computers at Sky that control what you watch, based on your viewing card settings. This is the reason you cannot get "dodgy" Sky cards anymore. Also, it is one of the reasons that BskyB is so profitable, they sell the technology to TV firms all over the world, as it is "un-Hackable"

I got a letter from VM a couple of days ago telling me the price for Sky Sports was going up. I can't remember exactly how much it was, but I think it was around £3 a month.

Yer got mine yesterday, still £18 per month for 10 sports channels on Virgin is pretty good I'd say !!!

Tell me folks, can Sky tell if you've been using the multiroom service?

I haven't been for about 18 months but they appear to be still charging me. I've called and had a row but the stupid BINT on the other end basically said it was my word against theirs.

I feel a few months free Sky coming on!
