That's how it is with me too. The Sky Sports channels are inaccessible (not just iffy) on the Virgin app, I need the Sky app and use the "login as a Virgin customer" button.

As for the morality of it, I use a VPN when abroad to watch UK television, both Sky Sports and ordinary channels. I don't see an issue because I don't feel like Virgin have any right to restrict my personal use of what I have paid for.
Sorry thats what i do scroll down on the left where it says Virgin and Now customers login here.

Even though the speedtest on the router will often read the total bandwidth of service, my take is the router's themselves can be very poor at managing modern high levels of demand and traffic on your own network.

Many households now, lets say a young family of 4, will likely have 20+ devices all competing for data; phones, tablets, alexa type stuff, TVs, gaming, sometimes smart heating / lighting devices etc. The factory supplied Virgin / Sky / BT routers can be pretty bad at handling this volume of traffic, so while reading 500mb/s the delivery can be patchy.

For a while now I've had the supplied router in modem mode, then used a mesh router with an ethernet switch to manage the network and generally it is far more reliable. If I switch provider, there is no change to my network so passwords etc. can all remain the same.
I live alone mostly. and when sitting on the balcony no usage anywhere else except for the tiny tricle for Alexa etc as already stated i NEVER had any problems with any other service . Watched iplayer streaming ok watched itv x no problem watch sky cricket crap .I Can Receive wifi at least 30 metes from my property. Watch streaming videos on line Netflix, and others. Tried one laptop my other laptops (only have wifi )with ethnet port so hard wired reads 650mbs still sky crap . But very grateful for the ideas. when im getting crappy reception im still getting fast internet. It's irrevelant now as im happy to watch using vpn (y) Virgin help support forum is fiull of messages the same as mine. As stated thanks lads for all the ideas

My small input is that virgin streaming through computer is pants. Now broadband customer with no issues streaming genrali (Netflix, live iplayer etc) in the same room as router, but using (legitimate) virgin streaming on same PC is naff, especially when using the required sky sports app.
Not sure if sky or Virgin is the problem but added bonus in recent weeks is that the sky login as a virgin customer refuses to acknowledge the correct login details so can't use it legally despite being paid for

The login issue was sorted for me after 2 days .But still a pain.

Can I hijack this thread with a related issue. I moved to Virgin from Sky 6 months ago for price. Overall it’s fine, but every 20 minutes or so the sound just goes. If I pause and unpause it fixes it. Same thing happens on 2 separate boxes/TVs. But watching via app on phone is OK. Anyone had this/know how to fix it?

It is morally wrong to pay Sky for their service.
Excellent point well made, Yes i might just go fully Monty and start doing the right thing just enjoy a free ride. When i speak to Sky they say "your accounts with Virgin media" So i speak to Virgin and they say "yes, but its the Sky app", tossers. I say tossers not them 😃
