You pau for sky, then you have to pay extra for the sports , then you have to pay extra for bt sport, then you have to pay extra for big boxing matches on pay per view.
You have to then pay extra for the movies, then if you want to watch a new film pay extra to rent it.

feck em get an android box

If you have been with Sky or Virgin for a long time just call up and ask to leave saying you like the service but their rivals are offer a better deal. As above you will ALWAYS be offered a much better deal to stay.

Also if Sky go is the only thing keeping you the sky sports app on the Ipad has a £5 a month subscription option if your not already sky sports member.

Never had Sky Sports in the first place - couldn't afford it if I wanted it. To be honest the only thing I miss watching is cricket - football was never on TV much anyway and is my second favourite sport but I really dislike not being able to watch cticket allsummer, you lose touch a bit.

Abort, retry, fail
We have just had a letter from virginmedia saying that our sky sports package has gone up by another £2.50 a month.

This is another increase that we have had and they say.." Oh there are extra HD channels". Or " you have all the cricket this summer".

It is getting the stage where we are seriously looking at Virgin as we have broadband, phone and XL package and will pay £130ish a month. Difficult to justify this sort of cost.

The Premier League is apparently worth £5.9bn or whatever. Someone has to pay for it.

I wonder what would happen if everyone cancelled their subscriptions over the period of a month or two.

Had the max package for 20 years now, that's 10 more than even they think when they phone me annually to thank me for being mates. Like the Albion, in for life

You can watch all four channels for a week for £9.99 with NowTV or £6.99 for 24hrs. Ideal if there's a golf tourney, test match or one-off football game you want to watch. I'm not really arsed about watching endless EPL games myself.

I retired last year so we binned Sky altogether. We keep getting letters with special offers, but nothing can make us go back to it. I don't really miss it now.

I got a simalar letter back in January so I called up and asked to leave. I advised them financial constraints / new baby / overtime cut at work (et al). Girl on the phone couldnt do a deal with me so I entered into the 30 day notice peroid. Around a week later, and after probably fifty missed calls, I spoke to someone in the retentions team, basically cut my bill by 50% for 6 months and then 25% off for the remaining 6 months as long as I signed upto a years contract extension. They also guaranteed no price increases in the interim.

if you dont go iwth that then top cashback are doing some great deals with new customers to sky. £157 cashback + £100 voucher

Did something similar earlier in the year and will do so again when the year expires...not sure why the OP is paying so much i've never paid anywhere near it for nearly the same package

I want to cancel Sky, wife won't let me.

Cancel your wife. Actually I have the same problem........." I can't miss Grays Anatomy, Scandal or Madmen." She says. Ffs
The only saving grace is that after getting so close to quitting with them and convincing the missus they knocked 30 quid a month off our bill.

Anyway enough of this and back to the Chelsea game.

For those looking to cancel their subscription, or just generally for those who love their latest series and movies, take a look at

I'm a mug for having Sky Sports, I know I am. And this latest hike really sticks in the throat, because its clearly as a direct consequence of them busting the bank to ludicrous levels on the new Premier League TV deal.

oh dear oh dear, im afraid its not, they dont pay for that until half way through next year. its because you will accept the rise. and you'll accept another next year when they are heavily promoting the new extended packages.
