just seen an advert for this, I mean is it REALLY necessary? I thought HD was supposed to improve picture quality for documentarys and sport.....but a NEWS channel?!....seems bloody pointless to me!

Sky News HD already exists, so I guess they are following on from that. It would be nice if all the channels were in HD as they look better than SD.

I guess it depends on if you are fussed by HD at all.

It's all about making it a subscription channel. Sky are still working their way around the ofcom ruling and want to keep as much of an advantage as they can for selling their own platform.

Charlotte Jackson, Natalie Sawyer, Millie Clode, Georgie Thompson... all in HD
I'll say!

Have you see Sarah-Jane Mee on Sky News HD?

I always thought that seeing SJM clearer might not be such a good thing - she might be better staying in SD. She must be one of the hardest working people at Sky though. she is on everything except the weather.

I heard rumour that all Sky Sports HD channels will be going over to Virgin, anyone know if this is still the case?

The thing is, Football looks much much much better in HD than normal TV, and with the amount of football on SSN, it will make a lot of sense, IMO.

Nope, she's a fine looking woman, I'll just watch Sky News HD when she's on, not really listening to the actual news.

Now that they're taking SSN off Freeview channels, they're meant to be showing an improvement in the quality of the programme, a straight forward, quick way of doing this is upgrading it to HD. Think there will be other improvements too, hopefully they'll cut out rugby and horse racing altogether

Yeah, I think she is too, I just always had a feeling that up close things may not get better, as it were. When I watch Cricket AM, there may as well not be a male presenter alongside her, in fact I wouldn't have a cluse who the bloke is this season.

Does seem a bit of a waste of time, much like Sky News HD (nice picture but really) but hey ho get to see the fine Georgie Thompson in HD which can't be a bad thing. Annoying thing is that Sky text don't work on Sky HD channels

No. Sky Sports 1 and 2 in HD will be available but 3, 4 and News will remain exclusive to Sky, for the time being.

Not really, with so much football highlights etc shown on SSN, the quality is so much better than normal Sky, it will be far more worthwhile than Sky News. Just think, all the Albions goals, in HD, every week.
