You only have to pay for Sky+ if you don't subscribe to one of their premium packages (sport or movies).

as said previously earlier in the thread i think this is being removed in July

my mum called this morning saying she wanted to cancel, she was offered the £49 deal for sky+ with a month free (she has the full package so it works out more or less as a free upgrade)

she was also offered free sports and movies for 6months

Installation is tuesday!

Totally random isn't it - Perhaps I should have got your Mum to phone up and cancel my subscription as she did a lot better than me. I've had the full package for nearly 3 years and there was no incentive (other than £49 for Sky+) to stay. Perhaps they don't think blokes who have had the full package will actually go through with their threat to leave and Sky assume they are just trying it on?

It might be waived if you are on the full package then. God knows with Sky's dubious pricing.

If you have Sports or Movies then Sky+ is free, remove either of these and they charge you a tenner a month. I wanted to get rid of both and the wankers took great delight in telling me I might as well not bother as theyd almost get as much money out of me as I would then start to incur a tenner Sky+ fee.

Will be interested to see if they do stop this charge as Ill get rid of movies straight away.

Just double checked on the Sky website, and it is confirmed, that from 1st July sky+ is free to all subscribers.

If you have multi room however, you will still have to fork out £10 per month

Looks like you will be paying less money to Mr Murdoch from next month

Yep - Sky plus has been WIDELY advertised as being free from July the 1st. I will be cancelling my Sky Sports tomorrow for the summer because of it.

Doesn't matter what package you have - they won't be charging the extra tenner.

Virgin will follow suit and offer theirs free. At last having decent competition is proving positive to the consumer who have been ripped off by Sky for years.

im with virgin at the moment and their service cannot compare to sky, the channels have been reduced on the basic package without any cost reduction, their excuse being you get on demand. however a couple of weeks ago they stopped that,

having the full Sky full package and phonr and broadband saves us £20/month compared to the Virgin package
