Yeah getting quite popular now as it's quite cheap, the only thing is the snow coverage isn't always great.
Yeah, we're going to Bulgaria in February, not sure where. I too have heard that the snow isn't that good; I hope Horsham Gull's scenario is more accurate!

We went to Serbia the year before last (and met a Brighton fan on the slopes!) and the ski-ing was excellent. Plus it was dirt cheap - any country that has the equivalent of a 10p note is ok in my book!

So the season is upon us once again, where are you all off too this season ?
Now me and my mates all have young kids, we are doing the family resort thing, so we're off to Les Gets in Febuary. Anyone been whats it like ?
I have heard the skiings not very demanding so I think i'll have to do a bit more off piste.
Anyway happy ski season to all you skiers and boarders

Not a skier myself, but my daughter went to Les Gets some years ago on a school trip,so I believe it is very good for young children. She certainly had a great time and so did all her mates!
Have a good one!!

This fine thread has finally prompted me to try and sort my shit out for skiing this year...I'd love to pretend I'll end up going somewhere other than Les Arcs 1950 where my mate gets a good deal on accommodation but, to quote Andy Williams, who am I kidding, only me: I've become the two old ladies in Fawlty Towers of that place; four years running now.

I'm going to WISLA in Poland. I suspect that the best I can hope for is that the inevitable shitness of the skiing is directly offset by an abundance of slavic minxery knocking about.

Anyone tried Spain? Sierra Nevada. Ski in the morning & get some sun in the afternoon............ If you drive like a lunatic! Seriously not a bad place & you can visit Granada for the Al Hambra, excellent Tapas in the area. Not a bad weekend away.

Nearly - Andorra. Relatively cheap and good if anyone in your party hasn't been before - can get a bit icy though !

Loved Austria and Blackcombe in Canada.

I hate you all. The recession has finally had a serious impact on the pasty household and we can't really afford it this season.

Either Stevens Pass or Crystal Mountain in Washington. Both are 2 hours away so whichever has the best snow when we have time to go.

Going to Banff in Feb. Should be good although the lift passes are £250 each!!

Banff is an amazing place, prices effected somewhat by the Olympics to neighbouring BC! If you love powder, Fernie is the place to be.

As to me, I will be at my condo at Big White. An hour's drive to Crystal Mountain, Silver Star, Apex Mountain and Mount Baldy (BC, Canada).

It doesn't get any better. If only the Albion were here too!

off to schladming for christmas (19th - 26th) and i'm on constant snow watch at the moment, hopefull of a big dump this week... have been to les gets twice before and i found the sk-ing very good, always sunny when i've been.

You should be fine - it's got a lot colder this week with snow above 600 metres. Colder still and more snow at the weekend. Should be the "big dump" that you were looking for!

It can be done on the cheap, even at half term.
Easyjet Gatwick --> Grenoble
Hire a car
Stay in a motel in Albertville
Drive up to Meribel (half an hour) each day.

Ski the 3 valleys for a fraction of the price.
