I'd take Skalak over Murphy - admittedly a good problem choice to make - as I think his distribution from set pieces is great. He also causes trouble and breaks play up.

You do realise he's played in 8 games, 4 from the bench.
Those 8 games being for a new team, new league, different country, different language.

Talk about tough crowd.
'Hoping he comes good', before the fella has even unpacked is somewhat melodramatic.

Exactly this

I think that some people are being overly critical of him. You could kind of understand the criticism of Sidwell as he has played in this country all his life, knows the division etc.

Skalak is new to the country, the league everything. I am pretty sure he didn't even know much English before coming over. I think he will continue with every game and be really useful for us

I also LOVE how he looks like a nutter but actually appears a rather nice lad

I'd love top see him taking more of the direct free kicks. He always seems to be pushed aside.

very good crossing and tracking back but dosnt contribute much going forward
5 assists in 4 starts suggests otherwise. Imagine how well he'll do once he can actually speak the same language as his team mates.

Absolutely. level-headed and seems to have a pretty good attitude. But i think we only seem to sign people with a good attitude. I wonder if it is part of the recruitment process - and hope/presume it is.

Nail on the head.
The team spirit is due to the right mindset as well as skill set being heavily scrutinised during the recruitment process.

I’ve said it before; the guy undoubtedly has talent and needs time to fully adjust to this league. There is an adjustment period when moving up or down a division, let alone moving from another country altogether. I’m happy with Jiri’s progress so far, although I’d like to see him in that spot behind Tomer. However, as CH has played him on the wings so far, moving him to another position could set him back.

I like Skalak mainly because open play or dead ball, he puts all his deliveries into a dangerous area.

He got owned a bit by Lewington at MK, but he is new to our league and will get stronger.

He is a much better option than Manu.

Up until the goal his set-pieces were pretty poor.

that's true, but after the goal - every set piece he took caused them trouble. Players are like that sometimes, just can't get a grip on the ball, but then it clicks.

He also now has FIVE assists in seven appearances (4 starts), equal at the top with Kayal (who has played all season).

No doubt about his dead ball ability but he does seem pretty ineffective in open play to beat a player or retain possession based on what I saw at Birmingham & Forest. Maybe needs to link up better with Bruno to become more effective

He has an assist every 77 minutes apparently. Psychologically it's got to help when winning set plays. Those in the box expecting a good ball to attack and maybe putting in that extra % to get on the end of it.

another attempt at assassinating one of the players what nonsense. We won, we are third can we stop the negativity please. He might not be the winger we all expected but he made a telling contribution for a goal AND he did a lot of tidying up work when we were under pressure.

Exactly-and he is only 24 years old, playing in a new league in a new Country for the first time...Jeez...some people on this board would criticise a £10m lottery win as not being enough.....

Jiri will be a great player for us, I am totally convinced so...

Great that he has good dead ball ability. However best I saw of him last night was when he lost ball in there half and next minute was putting in a tackle in our box. Prefer to be giving a forward praise for what is achieved in attacking positions

Yes true enough. As others have said he's also getting up to speed with the English game - I hope the trajectory continues for a while and we haven't seen him plateau!

When a player has the technical ability of his you can accept if he adds not that much elsewhere.....as long as he is not actually detrimental to your team.

As Burnley showed, Capitalising from set pieces is MASSIVE in football. In your 11 you are MAD not to have a specialist set piece taker. In my view, it should be a vital element of each team.

Skalak can be "carried" a little more because he works BLOODY hard off the ball. He tracks back every time so we are not a man down with him in the team.

At the moment he is doing OK in general play and well at set pieces. If he continues to improve his general play and understanding within the team and maintains his set piece ability, then we have a real asset.

I was fortunate enough to be right on the corner flag at MK dons and watched as Skalak somehow dug out a WONDER CROSS for Hemed when he was almost facing the flag. Amazing ability.

Skalak has 5 assists in 8 appearances (I think he's only had 3 x full 90mins).

The next in that list are Kayal 5 assists 38 appearances, Stephens 4 assists 40apps, Baldock 4 assists 24apps, Hemed 4 assists 42 apps, Murphy 4 assists 34apps, Knockeart 4 assists 14 apps.

I would say that is not a bad attacking contribution!
