Jury's still out for me, which is a strange thing to say after last night's boom goal. But the jury's still out because that was pretty much the exception during open play. I can only really think of that stunning cross he put in at MK Dons as another example. His set-pieces are unarguable and divine, and I'm willing to view his selection mostly on that basis, particularly given the importance of goals from set-pieces and how, all of a sudden, we've started scoring from them in the past five or ten games. That's not a coincidence. I also love his work-rate but, then again, I love most of our players' work-rate -- note, for instance, how Murphy managed to nullify Phillips last night who was looking very dangerous at that point. We could also point to his tenacity.
What I remain to be convinced about with Skalak is his decision-making in open play. Even last night, he seemed to make a number of bad decisions when better ones were available to him.

Have they returned a verdict yet? :)

Looking at the first page of this thread there's some very sneery comments from very sneery people who seem to be posting elsewhere now #KingJiri

Sent from Konnie Huq's lingerie drawer.

Has that lad got a shirt yet?

I'll happily post him over the jnr Stat's old ones to wear, but as they aren't 'Skalak 38' it seems like a hollow gesture.

His ball in for the first goal was again unplayable. Very difficult to drop the ball in between the keeper and the defence like that. Great finish for the goal.

For the sake of balance he had a few bad touches today, but I think they're outweighed by the game changing contributions that he makes.

The cross he made shortly after he scored, which could only be described as being FIZZED in to Hemed, was out of this world. Shame Tomer didn't quite connect with it.

Having watched the highlights it would appear he was entirely instrumental in the first goal as well as banging in a great strike for the second. His goal involvement to games/minutes played stats must be something else.

He is absolutely ruddy BRILLIO.

Incredible crossing, incredible free kick taking, incredible work rate and he doesn't seem to have a problem shooting either.

I absolutely LOVE Jiri Skalak

Who's that man from Pardubice (his birthplace according to Wiki),
Who's that man we all adore,
Jiri Skalak is his name and he scores a goal a game,
And we don't mention Leo anymore

I always was happy to give him time to adjust to the vagaries of the Football League and I think he has done much more than extremely well under the circumstances of joining the Albion 'mid term' .

Cannot wait to see how he performs after a full pre season.

He is a Talisman who is deadly with the dead ball and deadly on striking - what a shot he has in him !

If he, or anyone on here follows NSC on his behalf, I hope he knows he is most welcome !

Time played: 618 mins

Goals: 2

Assists: 6

Involved in a goal every 77.25 mins so far. Not bad.

PIFFLE. You can prove anything with FACTS.

You can't however beat making instant snidey judgements and then sticking your fingers in your ears when events turn against you.
