I thought that was fairly well known - goalkeeper.
He‘s buried in the Church Yard at Minstead in the New Forest.
he and Dominic Cumberbatch are apparently 16th cousins.
I too thought it was well-known. I also believe he was one of the people who founded Portsmouth FC (could be wrong), and he also played in defence.

EDIT; I've just googled it, I wasn't quite right. Apparently he was connected to the original Portsmouth AFC, which was an amateur club. It was disbanded in 1896 (according to Wikipedia).

He was also a con artist who was caught "cheating" at seances. I'm sure Harry Houdini caught him bang to rights on at least one occasion. Can't take anyone seriously who supports that fraudulent activity.
