I recall Steve Gritt signed someone with the surname Martin in the great escape year.

Signed on the basis of being a good influence in the dressing room. I think he made one appearance was absolutely terrible and stayed in the dressing room until he returned back.

Might have been Dave Martin?

Frank Stapleton home to Bradford midweek from memory - He was shocking.

Frank Stapleton
Stuart Kerr
Christian baz ?
Will packham

Frank Stapleton and Stewart Kerr both played twice for Albion; in fact they both played in the same two games!

Cristian Baz and Will Packham played multiple games as well.

Paul Bence, ex captain of Sussex Schools u 15s, had one appearance as a substitute in the late 60s before moving on, that was when our "youth" system didn't really produce much....

Tony Vessey?
Played against Coventry in the old div 1.
Don’t recall him playing again

Went on to have a good non-league career at Worthing and then Crawley, can’t remember if he’s retired by the time Crawley began to progress

Good god, I saw his debut away at Scunthorpe.

Didn't he sign as a favour to his mate Liam Brady. I think he'd actually retired from playing a couple of years before and been manager of someone. He came on as sub and was woeful.

I remember seeing Mickey Adams play for us in a Sussex Senior cup game at Sidley. Not sure if he played any more.

Solely on (long ago) memory, around '72 or '73, we played a mid-season friendly at The Goldstone (against Luton?) My Dad (who AFAIK had never been to watch The Albion before or since) took me and my brother (same as regard Albion attendances) to watch - the only time I sat in the West Stand. Can't remember the score, or much about the game, but I think I can remember a youngster called Mickey Conway playing for us, who looked quite good to me.
Not sure if he ever played for us again (waits for my usual correction form AZGull!)

Was that the same Barnet game where it rained like no other game?
That is one of those games that stick in my memory for reasons other than If I Had A Jaguars goal. It was so wet, I could hardly see the game as the rain was driving straight at us and I struggled to keep my glasses clear.

I’d also just bought a new waterproof coat with the fleece zip in bit. It was a great test which it passed with flying colours until I got onto the packed tube and found that the zip had jammed up at the neck. I couldn’t free it and nearly fainted as I got so hot on the train until one of my mates used brute force to get the zip to release. Needless to say, it went back to the shop the following weekend for a refund.
