The new Elliott Bennett song has been met with mixed opinions, but it does highlight the fact that on NSC we can come up with, and introduce new songs, and this is a good thing!
What are your thoughts on:
1. A thread for people to post new songs on.
2. A thread to nominate a song
3. Songs with more than 10 (?) nominations are shortlisted
4. Shortlisted songs are voted on, top 5 (?) songs are chosen.
5. At one of the low key ramp up events, songs can be lead by someone over the P/A - a 15-20 minute singing lesson at the AMEX!
6. First game at the AMEX people have another 5 songs up their sleeve that by a general consensus are decent and worthy to be sung.
What are your thoughts? Would it be possible? Would the club allow it?
PS. Despite having the bloody Elliott Bennett song stuck in my head for the past 3 days, i do quite like it
what'd ya means its SPELT wrong and it worked perfectly well when I sang it to my cat just now!
Also there have been plenty of new songs this year. They might not all be any good but off the top of my head, Bennett, Noone, Ankergran, Calde x 2 and Poyet have had new (new to us) songs this season. The situation with songs not getting spread around our fan base will be solved at the Amex when all the like minded fans will be sat together (North Stand and West Upper wings). QUOTE]
Totally agree.
Something that doesnt really get mentioned is that since we left the Goldstone we haven't had "the end" culture at the Albion. IMO part of the reason falls down to the 1st season at Withdean. No opportunity was given for our more vocal support to gather in the same area and by the time H block was nominated it was too late. Many had grown used to their new seats in D, E and F blocks and didnt want to move.
To some extent our "home end" is currently away games. I'd expect this to change when we're at Falmer but it'lll take time. We might even see our away support suffer as people put their time, energy and cash into making our home games that bit more enjoyable. You cant under estimate having like minded fans around you and the North and Upper West will see this return.
Re new songs, because at Withdean us fans cant really hear each other, new songs arent getting the exposure to the masses. Thats meant that over the last 11 years we've had half as many games as other clubs to get them going (maybe?). As others have pointed out, get together with your mates, sing the songs on the train, in the pub and in the ground and others will join in eventually.
