[Music] Singers who can't sing (or those whose voices you can't stand).

Any of these contemporary (so-called) singers who insist on doing 50 notes where one would do. It does not equate to good singing.

This (skip to 2:36) always sticks in my mind from when it used to be constantly on the radio at work. The word 'me' on the end of the line 'You don't know what you mean to me' sounds like a fekkin' horse neighing. Ridiculous!

Mariah Carey (so-called) singing at the pitch of a dog whistle can feck right off as well! Silly bint!

Yes definitely Buble. Another technically good singer whose voice I just cant get on with.

There's also Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys. However I'm not sure if it's his voice I can't stand or his stupid smug face.

Michael Buble, Mr Heart FM.
I was going to buy a Pet Shop Boys album, I bought a single and played it 12 times instead

Florence of machine fame. Why sing a song when you can yell it at full volume. Every time.....

The bloke in S Club (Bradley) did the worst ever vocal performance at one of the big concerts for some royal anniversary some years back. I had no idea what he was trying to sing.

Surprised nobody’s mentioned Mark Knopfler yet, though like Ian Hunter and Steve Harley, it sort of worked.

Can’t stand Springsteen’s voice. Just terrible shouting.

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
Leave it out. Lemmy had a fantastically recognisable voice.

Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

But he never actually "sang" anything - he shouted.

Blimey, where do I start.

Neil Diamond, good songwriter, can’t sing.
Any of the waily women, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, and all their impersonators.
The new form of breathy, nasal singing, as portrayed by Rhiannon, Ellie Golding, etc

They should all be made to listen to Aretha, and realise less is sometimes more.

A few controversial entries from me.

Stevie Wonder
Bruce Springsteen
Paul Simon
Tim Burgess (Charlatans)
Paul Heaton (Beautiful South)
Seal
Phil Lynott
Steve Harley
Lisa Stansfield
Willie Nelson
That singer from Mott The Hoople

I know most of those are bloody great singers but their voices just make me want to reach for the fast forward button.

If we're doing voices that grate, then my list that immediately springs to mind includes:

Joe Cocker
Van Morrison
Tom Waits
Tina Turner
Bon Jovi bloke ( living on a prayer on repeat would make me confess to anything!)
Radiohead bloke

Reggae wise, I've always struggled a bit with Bim Sherman and Toots Hibbert.

I can't stand Bruce Springsteen in rock mode, but I once saw on tv a bluegrass session he did and I actually quite enjoyed it.

Eva Cassidy. I just wish someone had taught her to breathe properly.

Some (half a minute while she takes a breath) where over the rainbow.

I thought I'd be all over this but I guess it shows I just switch over so quickly I don't get traumatised.

Can I just add Barlow on the grounds that he's a kunnt. Can't recall what he sounds like.

Another vote here for Kate Bush... Can barely hear a word she is trying to sing.

I'll also add

The Bee Gees, for the reason above

Morrisey, tuneless ramblings.

jamiroqui, it's the same song over and over. Also too many tracks on his albums.

Lulu, just shouty.

You lot are all mad.

Six pages in and dissing of greats like Stevie Wonder, Buddy Holly, Toots Hibbert, Billy McKenzie, Willie Nelson and Lemmy and still nobody has mentioned Sir Reginald Pub-Sings-Through-His Nose.

Fair point about Tina Turner though Buzzer.
