Can all these dumb ass threads about lack of players and how we are going to be awful next season be put in one. At least until mid July

Christ Alive, I find all this doom and gloom unbelievable. Yes, it is disappointing to lose Crofts and Calderon but we have already signed Brevozan and Painter with Prutton reportedly lined up. For the Albion that in itself is unusual as we have generally waited far too long in pre-season to do our transfer business. It is clear, that whatever the claims and counter claims about funds are, we will be bringing in a lot of new players. Bloom is not stupid. He knows what it'll take to get us into a position whereby we will be challengers so let's wait and see where we are come the start of the season. I am confident that Gus will assemble a squad which will be stronger than we have seen for many years.

Of those players, Forster, Kuipers and Virgo were released by the club as they were not wanted and we presumably believe we could get better players in. As mentioned elsewhere, Painter has signed. We were always going to have to wait a while to see if we could keep the loan players, Plymouth haven't even got a manager at the moment. In my view, Crofts and Calderon are the only losses from that list and neither of them are irreplaceable.

This.

Gus has got to do a re building job to satify his and TB's ambitions of a serious challenge at promotion next season. Yes it is sad to see some old favourites go and to lose out on signing some of the better loan players we have had. As for Crofts, a good bit of buisness if the rumour about the fee is true. Obvioulsy would have liked him to stay.

I trust Gus to build a team from scratch more than any other manager we have had in recent times. I'm sure TB will not want to repeat the gross error of previous seasons in waiting until August to sign whatever players are left that no else wants and are no better than what we already have. Can't see him making the same mistakes as MA re loan players etc. He has already shown a keen eye for finding talent.

Calderon is a loss and Croft weakens the team (although that depends on how he is replaced and we got some money) but the rest were planned departures.

I wholeheartedly agree with this view. Let us not forget this is now a different club to the one we have had to endure for the past few years & even if our budget is nowhere near that of those tossers in red & white down the coast we will have a much better spirit about the place not just a bunch of football mercenaries but a group of players who want to work with the legend that is Gus & a club that even if they use it as a platform to move onto bigger things is going places & is a very attractive proposition.

We have had some enthusiastic talk about massive sums of money to be spent improving our squad, only for TB and GP to quash the rumours of massive cash and indicate only a modest sum will be available.

Towards the end fo the season, we had the pleasure of seeing our loan players playing well and assumed they would sign along with a few others to strenthen further.

Now, I know the season is not yet officially over (play offs etc) but rather than strengthen, what have we done so far with our sqad?

Forster - gone
Virgo - gone
Calderon - gone, not paid enough
Painter - no news but apperently wants too much too
Lua Lua - no news
Hendire - needs a massive wage cut if he stays
Barnes - Plymouth not selling
Aresmendi - no news
Crofts - gone
Kuipers - gone

ffs :tantrum: 93 millon for a new ground you un gratefull :censored:

Re the Gus scouting in South America comments. Isn't South America an unlikely area for a League 1 club to be scouting. We would probably not be able to afford anyone good enough to get a work permit. Or we would have to rely on dodgy Spanish passports. Having said that, El Turi proved nothing is impossible.
