Trying to ''shoehorn'' a few players into the side in order to fit a ''Narrative'' but who just aint good enough at PL Level

I think that's harsh.

I'm not seeing anyone looking out of their depth and shoehorned into the team.

I'm seeing a very good team who can easily hold their own for 89 minutes with shit the bed capabilities never seen before by mortal man.

I hope, with time and experience, the desire to collectively brain fart will subside and the team that feels unjust by the results v Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool and Man Utd will win through.

But more pertinent for now, I'd like to see a full 90 minutes played out against teams you'd hope to gain points from.

You need to name names there, otherwise you're just Trump - throwing slurs around without the courage or competence to provide supporting information.

Don't agree with that at all. I don't see any players featuring regularly for us who aren't good enough for the Premier League. Possibly you could say Connolly needs a spell in the Championship on loan but apart from that, who do you think is not good enough?

And what is the narrative you talk about? Attractive, attacking football that is good to watch and led to our best premier league points total you mean?

Aaron Connolly up front and Ben White is being ''shoehorned into Midfield when in fact he is in fact a Central defender but there is this need to make sure that he plays in order to justify turning down that large money offer that came in from Leeds United in the Summer

Focusing on expected stats.

We don't win or lose based on how often something might have happened if we played that game 100 times, it's won or lost on what did happen the one time we are ever going to play it. We lose 2-1 and people focus on xGs that show we should have won 2-1 as if that proves anything. It ironically blinds us to the fact we concede more than we should and don't score as often as we should. Focus is put on what could be so we ignore what is and there's seemingly little effort to improve. The 'just keep doing what we're doing and it'll all work out' attitude that seems to be remarkably similar to the 'definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results' attitude.

I disagree with your assessment here. From what I'm seeing, the majority are discussing exactly what you think they should be discussing and using the xG stats to back their arguments. Put simply, what the stats appear to show us so far this season amounts to:

1. We're actually pretty damn good at creating chances (top 10 material)
2. But we're rather rubbish at scoring from them (relegation material)
3. We're not too bad defensively, but could improve (middling)
4. But either Ryan isn't good enough or the opposition are beating him with quality (relegation material when it comes to Saves)

My personal opinion: we're top 10 quality everywhere except in both boxes. Once we're in the boxes we're simply not good enough. I suspect that's partly where the (now dead, I'm assuming) rumour about Henderson comes from - we may be shopping around for a new keeper in January.

Giving away stupid free kicks and penalties
Not defending well above
Missing Duffy for defending and attacking corners/free kicks
Not knowing best 3/4/5 defenders and sticking to it.
Playing White/Veltman out of position to keep 4 high profile CBs happy.
Starting Connelly over Maupay, Trossard,Ali and prob Swiss guy.
Too many shots off target by Gross,March

Simplistically? Potter is no better than Sami Hyypia.

(Played, Won, Drew, Lost)
Hyypia; 26 6 10 10
Potter; 55 14 18 23

The difference being the players Hyypia had were playing at the highest level they were going to, with a few exceptions. Potter has everything he needs but is no better at getting results. He's very lucky no crowds have been allowed.

Shocking transfer window for a PL club, we had the same problem last season scoring. We bring in cheap option Welbeck who scores about one in five ???

I don’t get the point of being in the PL If your not willing to invest in it. A couple of decent record strikers and a left back would of done this window. Lallana waste of time, Veltman probably the only decent signing of the summer.

In reality we are reliant on young Lamptey to create something sad for four seasons in the PL.

People may look at that first half and say defence. I'd say at 0-0 we had two good chances to score and it would have been quite different if our forward line could take their chances. Leicester's home record is poor recently, including their recent loss to Fulham. They go behind again and it rattles them.

(Or perhaps we panic at being in a winning position, sit back and invite pressure an they turn it around like Southampton).

Is this a game of defending the indefensible? You can’t concede 3 goals in a half and say that defence/goalkeeping isn’t the major issue.

I'm not defending the defence. I'm pointing out that at 0-0 we had a great chance to take a hold of this game and at 1-0, 2-0 up the game is completely different. We have momentum, our defence have a bit more confidence because a goal conceded doesn't put us behind, Leicester start to doubt and second guess and aren't as testing.

Both ends need to improve, but I believe an improvement to the forward line is more likely to have a positive effect on our defence than an improvement to our defensive line is to have a positive effect on our attack.

Unrealistic fans, sadly.

Not all. There’s a good core here, but many who I think get a bit upset when we lose away to a top side and don’t see the bigger picture.

As a realistic fan, do you think our win ratio and especially our home form in the last 12 months is good enough?

Hyypia inherited a team that finished 6th, and he would have got us relegated if he had stayed much longer. Potter inherited a team that scraped survival the previous season, so not a fair comparison.

We obviously can't organise a defensive shape and tonight is the latest evidence of that
