Steve Kember was Palace manager after Steve Bruce. Bruce had the Brum job for six months before Dowie took over at Palace.
Dowie's family have lived in Lancashire since he took the Oldham job.
Kylies Stunt Arse said:I thought Kember was only caretaking while Jordan looked for someone better, but I'm sure that you would know better than me.
I know that both Dowie gargoyles lived in St Albans for years, but I wasn't certain if they had relocated up north fully.
AJ's Love Monkey said:Oh f*** you have upset BHAE now you have forced him to tell you how he was born not far from Selhurst Park but thankfully his parents moved to Sussex when he was young saving him from the dreaded prospect of being a Palace fan

fataddick said:Personally I don't have a problem with Palace, I have a problem with Simon Jordan. The guy's always trying to pick fights with people, from his constant digs against the board at Birmingham City's porn links to his description of Charlton fans as 'morons' and later 'imbeciles' - because we celebrated relegating them. Sorry Simon, that's how football works - in many Charlton fan's eyes Palace are rivals (albeit with less animosity flowing in the opposite) so of course we will celebrate their relegation. That's what football fans do. What did you expect us to do, burst into tears at sending you down? The man is a Class A clown and I have just ordered the bib linked to down below to be delivered to him. Whatever the rights or wrongs of the Jordan-Dowie dispute (and it is just between the two of them) even from a neutral perspective I feel I'd favour the one without the reputation for acting like a spoilt petulant kid. As one Palace fan put it in a post on the Charlton board, with a resigned tone, "this isn't a case of Charlton vs Palace, it's a case of Simon Jordan vs The World... again."
Bib for Simon Jordan

bhaexpress said:No my 'problem' such that it is with Jordon is that if I was the Palace Manager I wouldn't want my chairmen making promises that I would have to keep. I wonder just why Dowie left Palace in the first place. It does seem that the truth is at a premium here who said what and when ?
The fact that Jordon had Dowie served during a press conference smacks of publicity seeking but it doesn't look good.
Jordon has made a regular habit of courting controversy to the point where its embarrassing. I think the bloke is an idiot as a Football Chairman but as a businessman I have no clue apart from what I've been told by people who are in a position to know.
I never get to downhearted about these things .Players come and go as do managers it is us the paying customers that have no choice but to carry on with the same team.5 past Kuipers said:Yeah, but we've had so many manager's that you can forgive a bloke for getting in a muddle.
Kember has followed Smith, Bruce and Francis!
Bloody entertaining club I support though.
AJ's Love Monkey said:Jordan is a demanding chairman of that there is no debate but that is because he is a Palace fan first and foremost and doesnt like to see the club fail. He has ploughed plenty of money in (quite a bit of it his own by the way) and given Dowie a fair bit of dough to get the club back up again which for one reason or another he has failed to do albeit with on paper by far the strongest squad in the division. Now i am the first to say Dowie has done a good job at Palace and his first season achievements will not be matched by anyone soon i can guarantee it, but as i have said on another thread he is an "impact" manager and the last couple of season's his team selections and tactical acumen have been found wanting more and more frequently as time went on and it appeared to Palace fans quite early on in the last campaign that he had lost the art of motivating the team (October 18th a prime example!) and things were not all rosy in the garden, fallouts with Ward and Kiraly highlighted this. Yes he got us to the play-offs but in all honesty we limped there and if it had been a slightly better quality league we woul not have made it and the games against Watford were a write off. Jordan is not everyone's cup of tea i understand that but he bleeds red ansd blue and you would want him on your side even the most hard nosed on here would have to admit that.

"Dowie talks about challenges. He failed to keep us in the Prem, then failed to get us promoted. What sort of challenge exactly is he after?"

I think Jordan is in the right. But doesn't that make this chaos for Palace all the sweeter
BarrelofFun said:How do we know he is in the right, when no details of the contractual agreements have been released?
