Well said. Then Harty spoiled it..."Age has clouded my memory but when we were in the shit did they give us much sympathy?" - Quite a few of us came on the march, yes.

You guys have revelled in our misery and problems, I'm sure you didn't want us to fold and neither would I wish that fate on you. But administration, a loss of 10 points, players leaving, smaller and smaller crowds and relegation, yeah I'd f***ing love it, especially when next years fixtures list comes out (I'm rashly assuming we will avoid the drop) :clap2:

That is spot on! Most of the Palace idiots that come on here do so to take the piss and gloat and have done for years. For those reasons alone it will be great fun watching them implode until they're down at the ass end of the football pyramid struggling like hell. It'll never get that bad but a couple of years in League 2 will do them the world of good.

Meanwhile, at BHAFC, the East Stand Arch at our new stadium is due to be put in place over the next couple of weeks.

Edna and I went to Selhurst for the National Falmer Day to collect signatures for the Prescott petition. We were met by a regular Palace visitor to this board (can't for the life of me remember his name) who bought us a beer in the pub, then we stood on the corner of Holmesdale Road in our Brighton shirts and scarves.

No-one refused to sign. There was some good-natured banter and without exception everyone wanted to see us survive so the rivalry could continue.

These were not CPFC keyboard warriors, but the kind of fans who turn out for their team, week in and week out.

I would happy to do what I could to help them survive.

The difficulty I have with wishing ill on Palace is that ultimately there are so many worse clubs out there.

We only want them to implode as we are jealous of them being better than us.

I like the rivalry and I think it is up to us to prove we are good enough to compete with them - i.e. win 25-30 games of football in a season and get promoted

So you speak for the whole fan-base now do you?

Might wanna dumb your ego down a bit.

Yes it's partly up to us to do well enough to get promoted, but if they're shit enough to go down (which I doubt they will) then we will be 'good enough to compete with them' as they will be in the same league as us by right - it will be them proving they've weakened, and thus have to compete at a lower level.

Lets not forget that for much of the last 15 years we've been working under extremely tight constraints, so have been unable to prove how good we potentially can be, whereas Palace haven’t had anywhere near the same problems we've had (up until now, maybe). They've 'proved' they can compete above us partially by virtue of our problems, does that mean throughout the last 15 years they've proved by getting points/winning promotions they're better than us? That all the issues we've had holding us back didn't affect the fact they're competing at a higher level?

Your logic is flawed.

I wasnt speaking for the whole fan base and never suggested it. Yes we have been in trouble. If you thought that you are reading way to much into my post.

Palace have been in adminstration in the last 10 years, some how we have avoided it. They've had their downs and still coped with it, much like us.

Fact is, they have been better than us in the 20 or so years I have been supporting Brighton. Just a 1-0 win at Selhurst proves other wise. They have always been higher than us in the league in my time following us.

Mendoza is probably too young to know how he should feel about the scum

You are probably right, but so if the majorty of NSC. Keeping the Dream alive is evn more younger than me...

I reckon a lot of the younger Brighton fans hate Leeds more than they do Palace. Its just a sign of the times, its just because we went years without ever playing them

Rivalry is one thing but this goes beyond rivalry.

We're talking about a club £20-£30 million in debt here, a club that manages to produce good young players but then have them poached by the Premiership big boys at an age when they're not even shaving. They don't own their ground and they're a pretty unattractive proposition for investors.

Fair play to them for being so close to the play-offs in extremely tricky circumstances.

As for the future of our rivalry, if football carries on going the way it is both clubs will have lost so many fans to Arsenal and Chelsea that it will be a pale shadow of what it was in the distant past.

Ahh another veteran of the 1st NSC sponsored match! However I THINK it was SeagullEater who escorted Lush and Edna, I could be wrong and no I don't remember his real name either. Big supporter of REMF as well.

Anyway, yes, I'd LOVE to see Palace go into Administration, lose all their players and fall to second-from-bottom of the football league. But as long as there is a Brighton and Hove Albion FC I hope there is also a Crystal Palace FC

The collective pronoun 'we' implied you were speaking for the whole fan-base, but if you say you weren’t then fair enough...

The main point I was getting at is we have had a lot more holding us back than Palace, chiefly playing at an athletics track for the last 10 years, and your point about us having to ‘prove we are good enough’ just struck me as a bit odd. If they get relegated it’ll be because they weren’t good enough for the Championship, and by definition become a League One team – the same us. Although it may not be as glamorous as getting promoted, ultimately they will have not done enough to prove they are good enough to compete in a league above us. We don’t necessarily need to prove we are good enough, if they prove they’re not good enough.

And as a side note one person who has posted under this account regularly before is younger than you, but certainly not this person! Call it constructive hacking if you wish…

Basically it's a shared account. I only use it when I've got a day off work. The rest of the time someone else uses it.

Is that OK with you?

if they went out of business there'd be no one to hate.

No, surely the prospect of them coming down a peg or two, having to be rescued by some potless altruist (like Sir Dick Knight, peace be upon him) and held in limbo in div 2 for five to ten years, while we lord it up the divisions with a cash-rch lizard at the steering wheel is too good NOT to wish for??

Sorry, have I missed something here?

Last time I looked, Palace were on a good run, well until getting royally SPANKED by Doncaster at the weekend. And didn't they win last night?

They're in a half decent position in the table, so, disappointingly, not looking like relegation candidates by a long shot. Have they had some gloomy financial news that I've failed to pick up on, or has Jordan just decided it's been a while since he was last in the papers?

What gives?
