Simon Cox

CMS isn't banging them in at the moment but he's contributing loads to the side, it isn't all about goals. If we sign Cox, it won't affect CMS' or Barnes place in the side in my opinion. Barnes is basically a midfielder now anyway. If we pulled it off I could see us started CMS/Cox with Stokes coming on as and when.

Blimey is he still playing - I thought that goal for Southampton in the 76 cup final was the highlight of his career - I didn't know he was the oldest player in football league history.

Why does this rumour mean everyone is posting re CMS?! We have Vokes yes but surely CMS / Cox up top would be the main pairing with Vokes as a different option to come on?

That would require us playing two upfront though

It is CMS upfront on his own. If we have other strikers on the pitch, the play at the top of the diamond of left midfield.

If we played to Mackail-Smith's strengths, then we wouldnt need to sign other strikers.

Again Cox isnt the sort of player that thrives on receiving the ball 30 yards out with his back to goal, so we would hve much the same problem as we do with CMS

The man to put the ball through to CMS is Liam Lawrence of Portsmouth, horrible man but very effective. As regards Barnes and his defensive ability I think that will be overcome by the signing of Joe Mattock as we have been weak at full back most of the season with Marcus Pianter lack of speed and then injury plus losing Lua Lua and Noone . We look unbalanced on our left hand side with no natural left footed players.

id love to see us play Millwall at home in a 4-4-2 with Noone and Buckley as our wide men with CMS and Vokes up front.

I think its worth another go now we have the 2 full backs on loan

And i think Gus would try it, if results were not going so well

No I genuinely think that he is the type of player we need to supply CMS. Southampton have Chaplow a similar nasty b.....d and going through the leagues all successful sides have a player like that in their side. Gus is said to be confident of bringing in an attacking Premier League midfielder on loan who does anybody think fits the bill?
