He has built an empire. Maybe he doesn't need £61m, but if that's what his empire has earned him, yes he deserves it.

Thanks, saved me from writing near enough the same. He has been in the right place to make the right decisions which have lead to him earning £61m in a year. Therefore he deserves it and is entitled to it.

US, asking how much money does one person need and how much does one deserve are two entirely different questions. In my more socialist view, no one needs that amount of money each year, but he is entitled to earn what he wants from the society we live in and one which, by the fact I'm tapping away on an iPad whilst drinking a NZ Sauvignon blanc, I am complicit in supporting.

Practically all of us on the board have more money than we NEED to live on.

self-made millionaire by making the most of the business he was in; exploiting the naive into signing over massive percentages in their bid for stardom.

Don't begrudge him the success, just hopes he gives a fair share back to charity and has no Saville-type skeletons in his closet.

He deserves every penny. He's keeping people who might otherwise drink 5 bottles of wine a day glued to the telly.
... and I trust he's handing over his £27,000,000 in taxes, to fund the NHS rehab clinics.

Or maybe he's found a "legal" way to avoid much of this income tax liability?

Cowell is a wanker, his shows are crap and he is not a very nice person it would appear but he has not forced a single person to watch his X-Thing, listen to his music or give him money so good luck to him. Wish I could come up with something similar that could make me that rich.

I don't know if he is a nice person or not. From all his activity it seems he is very self centered and will do what is best for him. The second last year in the X Factor. Jahmene Douglas's new album has been number 1 and then 2 in 2 weeks of release so the X Factor clearly sells 10 years on.

How an album of poor covers can do that when it's not Christmas is beyond me.

I like the guy personally so fair play to him. Had a lot of shit in his life.

The judgments of the Market are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold:
sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Moreover by them is thy servant warned:
and in keeping of them there is great reward.

Blessed be the Market, the righteous judge.

He's making millions out of serving up shite, lowest common, dumbed down talent contests searching the country for trumped up karaoke stars whose own lack of talent and hard work can't see them make it through touring and releasing their own material. I am gobsmacked how much of a success X-Factor, Britains Got Talent has been - because it's absolute dogs turd, bringing out the absolute worst in human beings. He can f*ck off.

Yes, but ... he's made going out on Saturday nights a preferable alternative to watching television. This is a fantastic contribution to the national economy.
