Unfortunately some of the food for a full English breakfast is not exactly healthy . Get rid of the unhealthy bacon & black pudding and replace with smoked salmon and avocado to bring yourself and your heart into the 21st century.
Next you’ll be telling us that drinking might have side effects. :rolleyes:

there is no unhealthy food, only unhealthy amounts.

Going back before the influence of other places, what would a transport/workmens cafe have served in say 1970 in Sussex? My guess would be:

Sausage
Bacon
Fried bread
Tomato
Fried egg


I don't think that down 'ere, it generally included:

Black pudding
Baked beans
Mushrooms
Other types of egg
Hash browns
Toast

They've all crept in since.

It’s very easy to make simple chances to a breakfast that still tastes very good but isn’t bad for your heart .
It is. I think we all know that. I’m pretty sure not everyone on here is having a full English every day.
Salmon and avocado is a great brekkie. I have it once a week on a weekend.
I wouldn’t choose it for a fry up though. Because it’s not a fry up.

How much bacon is safe to eat?​

The current advice from the NHS recommends that if you currently eat more than 90g (cooked weight) of red and processed meats a day, you should cut it down to 70g a day. This is equivalent to two or three rashers of bacon or a little over two slices of roast lamb, beef or pork (with each about the size of half a slice of bread). In light of the more recent evidence, it's best to reduce your intake of all processed meats to once every couple of weeks. Therefore, keeping your bacon intake to a minimum is recommended – eating it every couple of weeks is best.

No argument from me.

I won’t eat processed food, especially meat, more than once every 6-8 weeks.

Processed meat is one of the worst things you can put through your guts.

IMHO a Full English Breakfast should be a savoury affair and to me that is sacrosanct - anything that is the slightest bit sweet, be that pancakes, maple syrup or even marmalade should not come anywhere near a FEB

@Stat Brother - that's a good looking benedict (although some would argue about the use of bacon over ham). Where in our fine county is this served?
Is the Chalet cafe still going?

Haven’t been for a few years but recall it was highly commended by Scania!
Used to go there 20 years ago with colleagues when I worked in Horsham and it was always good value for money. Proper builders tea served out of a giant urn. I guess the old boy who used to run it is long gone but it still looks popular when I drive past. @Cowfold Seagull may be able to update as it is in his patch.
My wife’s Nan used to make black pudding sandwiches. She was Northern though..

Nothing like using black pudding to spread on the bread as part of a bacon sandwich - you really should try it.

Scotch eggs with black pudding inside instead of “pork”. Now there’s a treat. I had these in a pub/restaurant out near Gatwick.
I’m struggling to remember the name. The Fox Revived?

Anyway, plenty of places do it and it is sublime.
