Albion boss Chris Hughton has killed ongoing doubts about Chris O'Grady's future by revealing the striker will not be going anywhere before the transfer window shuts on Monday night.

O'Grady was on loan at Sheffield United before Hughton's appointment on New Year's Eve and, according to sources in Yorkshire, the League One promotion-seekers had an agreement in principle to buy him.

Hughton has made it clear that will not be happening following two goals for O'Grady, the latest against Arsenal on Sunday, and the recent series of impressive contributions from the robust centre-forward.

Hughton has also indicated there will not be much more transfer business involving Albion in the final few days of the window after the recapture of Greg Halford on loan from Nottingham Forest, borrowing Leon Best from Blackburn for the rest of the season and buying Beram Kayal from Celtic.

Hughton said: "I don't anticipate too much more happening. There has been a bit of speculation about Chris O'Grady. We're delighted with him and certainly I'm delighted with what I have seen from Chris.

"Certainly he won't be going anywhere, which I'm delighted to say. You get to know players over a period of time and certainly what he has shown in my period here probably puts a stop to lots of speculation that we are going to hear.

"I think it's testament to what Chris has done in this latest period and I can only speak about that, not earlier in the season.

"I can only judge him on what I see and he has been excellent, for himself and, of course, for the team with the effort he has put in.

"On top of that he has chipped in with what we want from him, which is goals. So absolutely he won't be going anywhere."

Albion have received a further boost ahead of Saturday's trip to Blackpool with the return to training for the last two days of Kazenga LuaLua.

Hughton said the winger he worked with at Newcastle, sidelined since November by knee trouble, is "very close" to a comeback.

what a let down. I think that was already a given, so our transfer news is of a player already playing for the club...

Hughton doesn't expect us to do anymore more deals. No winger than FFP.

Biggest thing for me is NO business, even though we were told we would be allowed to spend in January. 325k and a loan is not spending to stay in the division to me. Clearly CH thinks the squad we have is good enough for a 8-14th place finish which IMO is where we need to be to be bringing in quality players next year and showing we're capable.

Halford, Best, Kayal, Lua Lua and Stephens in.

No-one decent leaving.
