So the next question, who is going to be extracting it? are profits generated which are going to billions, is this going to go back in to our economy in the way of jobs, or is it going to be leaving our economy completely.

Will be interesting to see what happens here.

Will we invest the profits into our country and become a more wealthy nation like Norway or follow the British North Sea model?

The clever ones RIGHT NOW will be thinking how do they get the stuff out of there. As it is such huge volume it will not be by road or rail, it will be by pipeline to the nearest port, Southwick shoreham maybe, or somewhere around that area????

Although it will take 10 years plus to get this stuff out of the ground, clever people will be taking positions now to cash in on the route out for the product......

Green light for the arun and wey canal widening scheme for the tankers though!:moo:

Other than the amount of water they will need to frac the stuff out, will probably mean they won't have any water in them.

100 billion barrels of oil will keep Surrey's Chelsea tractors running for at least a year!

What with this and fracking we could be like Saudi Arabia in a few years, couldn't we?

Hope not. The idea of public beheadings every Friday just doesn't appeal to me.

There's already a pipeline running the other way. Avgas from to Fawley to Gatwick and Heathrow.

Norway used proceeds from their natural resources to create long-term security for everyone in country. Will we adopt a similar approach, if not on the same scale? Given the nature of Cameron's Britain I think we know the answer to that question. Expect the extravagantly rich to get even richer, property prices to go up and the anxiety levels of the rest of the country to keep rising; after all isn't it insecurity and anxiety that drive the economy?

Well I would think Queen Square in Crawley would be ideal for a UK "Chop Chop" Sq.

Plus, the gallows are still in the High Street.

Will it be Pay on the Day?

I see from Googling that the land currently under license for exploration and evaluation actually covers quite a bit of territory to the south and west of Gatwick, basically Hampshire border across to A22, A272 up to the Dorking > Guildford road.

They're doing loads of residential building smack bang in the middle of that region just SW and N of Horsham.
