As someone who is half English and Spanish (I class myself as English), I find the whole thing very depressing. As has been pointed out Spain is where we were in the '70's. The sad thing is that many of the people who made the monkey sounds most probably see there actions as just a way of winding up the opposition rather than being racist .. very much a '70's concept.
If you want to ban Spain then most European and asian countries would also have to be banned as they have problems with racist crowds. We have to accept that as a country we are more attuned and advanced than many of our neighbours wrt racism.

I wonder how many on the list would have referred to the Spaniards as 'f$%king Spics@ or Dago's , there were a few in the pub last night ???

I was also really embarrassed by the apparent desire of the England players to try a cripple anyone wearing a red shirt, it was a friendly for f$%k sake:shootself

Exactly what he said. Including the half Spanish bit.

This is a problem in Spain. I think I read earlier in this thread that it doesn't happen at Real Madrid games. Utter Utter bollocks. I have heard Makele get this kind of abuse with my own ears from his own fans (when he played for Madrid). A large proportion of Madrilenos are very small minded and intolerant for the citizens of a European capital.

ALso the Spanish Fa and the media really do not want to admit it which in some ways I find worse.

However, reading some of crap that some people have written on here.. who as Depor Seagull quite rightly points out would be using their own 'colourful' language to describe the Spanish, really does stick in the throat.

We ain't perfect. Still, the Spanish authorities and media could learn a whole lot from their English counterparts.

I know this is probably just repeating what has been said before, but I've just seen the game with sound for the first time (watched it in pub before), and it really did make me feel physically sick to hear the noises they were making, which was a shock to me. Scum.

What do they mean when the FA say they are asking FIFA and UEFA to investigate? Investigate what? It was pretty clear to millions of viewers what was happening. All it will do is tell them what we already know.

Didn't read the whole thread. It was disgusting to hear however it was only a small minority to say all Spaniards are racist is a bit extreme. Racists are everywhere we have enough in this country, enough who support our team, to ban the whole country is going to far.

OK I retract the "all bit" and apologise if I have offebded hopefully the majority of Spanish people.

However I stand by the fact that what happened was a disgrace and it must never be repeated.

Would it be wrong to draw parallels to the world-wide view that all English football fans are street-brawling thugs.

The threat was made that if our off-pitch behaviour continued, it would be the team and ALL the supporters who would suffer by team expulsion.

Problems such as these are nearly always the cause of the minority affecting the majority.

FIFA must be consistent - yellow card the Spanish supporters, repetition will result in expulsion from next world cup - end of!

yes, couldn't agree more. ALL 38 million spaniards are racist, all of 'em, the Spanish government will really sit up and take notice of the English rant over this and Spain will be turfed out of the world cup, the eurovision contest, it's a knock-out and Europe itself. AND last night's reaction had nothing to do with our media having yet another frenzy over a pre-match subject that they actually made matters worse. Ow and England's fans are little angels for the record.........

Please. I cringed at the rascist chanting when I heard it but equally at the holy-er than though opinions by the FA and our government (for F***s sake why is Tony Blair getting involved?!)I'm not sure which is worse? The rest of Europe is saying, "hang on this is ENGLAND complaining about crowd control???!"

Mishandled reaction from a leaderless FA. Again. Should have let the media outcry blow over and taken up with UEFA /FIFA afterwards quietly and diplomatically. Have you noticed how we ALWAYS think England are hard done by and the rest of Europe doesn't.....?

I was there and it sounded bad.

Some of England's less desirable supporters made moves towards the Spain fans nearby in an attempt to debate the issue or rascism but the police put a stop to this.
