Poor old [young] Lamptey had a clear intention to get to the aerial threat as well - but he somehow always just missed out!!

Indeed...I tried to avoid stating the obvious in his case, it appeared that Bournemouth decided to test his aerial power too, on numerous occasions.

One fantastic tackle on the half way line. And I was greatly entertained when he charged forwards in the first half, got into their box and then quite clearly thought 'WTF do I do now?'.

Thought he was going to have an overhead kick at goal at one point as well.

Two things.

1) That run was great and surprised everyone, including his teammates. He looked baffled when he appeared in the box!
2) I think Minteh's bizarre overhead kick to give Bournemouth a corner was quick enough of those for one night. One of those moments when you realise he's only 19 still

I'm sure he won't. Adam has been playing at a level where he can't and won't be benched. Right now, no manager would drop him.

Hurzeler has shown throughout this season he learns from his mistakes and he won’t repeat that one he made last time by bringing Dunk straight back in for Igor.

Very different scenario. People pretended Igor played well because of the desire to make Dunk a scapegoat. That made people ignore the absolutely awful positioning from Igor that resulted in several goals for the opponents in the few games he played.

Adam Webster has been really good, for real, by all standards and without any need for comparison to anyone else.

Fascinating selection decision and insight into the manager's thinking when Dunky is back. Three terrific players vying for two spots.

The logic and history suggests Dunk always gets bought back in. But maybe this time is different.

I think i'm in a minority on this one, but I certainly don't think JPVH's place is beyond question in this conundrum. Although he's the best of the three at the moment in terms of the traditional defensive skills, I think the more secure passing of Webby and Dunk might make Hurzeler lean towards them.

In any case it's a marginal call and i'm certainly not going to disparage any one of them. What it does mean is we're under no pressure to bring Dunk back before he's ready.

What must Cashin be thinking!?!

Webster does look back to the form he was showing when he was in the conversation for an England call-up. Seriously impressive in all facets of the game.

I still can't bring myself to suggest Dunk doesn't come back into the side, but for the first time ever I am considering the possibility..........

Nobody pretended Igor played well. Igor did play well. But speaking as Adam's sternest critic in the past, Webster is now in the form of his career. He has had his frailties coached out of him, improved every aspect of his game and looks so much leaner and fitter. Dunk isn't being made a scapegoat for anything or anybody, but his form and fitness have dropped off and first Igor and JP, then Adam and JP have shone a light on Dunk's loss of form and as result. We all love Dunky, but we prefer the alternatives at the moment. If Webster can remodel to the superb current form, I'm sure Lewis can too. But he shouldn't be a starter at the moment.

Horseshit. Igor made mistakes Premier League defenders just don't do and all he got for it was praise for not being Lewis Dunk, who has been slated over and over again the last two seasons when playing or not playing. Ok if you think Igors totally unacceptably poor decision making is "good defending", we all have different standards, but you have to be blind if you haven't seen the oceans of people saying "Dunk is finished" etc.

Which he is not. He has played at a good level, playing a massive role in plenty of our games this season and last season, despite allegedly "being finished".
What I can agree with is that he is on the decline - I don't see some massive überform happening at this stage of his career - but the rumours of his death have been greatly exaggerated. He is a better defender than Igor 365 days a year and not even the guy who brought Igor to the club even dreamed of benching Dunk for him. Hurzeler benching Igor the moment Dunk was available again is a call that any sensible manager would have made since they don't work on the basis of "its a new and exotic toy, it must be better than the old one".
