Should these Select Committees really be broadcast live? / Murdoch pie in the face

Not sure it sits well with me.
Showboating politicians in a quasi court rounding on, as yet, innocent individuals. Either have the balls to charge them and get them to a proper court of law or interview them in a more dignified environment.
Bit embarrassing methinks.

Showboating? Are you watching it?

Tom Watson is asking clear, open (not leading) questions. Very revealing.

They are usually live or repeated on BBC Parliament, so I don't think the politicians see it as an opportunity to show boat. After all PMQ may be parliament on show, but committees are parliament at work.

It is not a trial. Parliament scrutinises all sorts of public and private activity even with no question of impropriety- it's called running the country.

Murdoch is coming across like Abe Simpson. Suspect he'll be pensioned off after this performance...

They are not under caution and they are not testifying under oath, so this is not replacing a court of law. They are assisting the committee.

When they get arrested and charged, then they will be rightfully kitted out in orange jumpsuits and placed infront of a judge

To me a good example of an idiot is someone gullible enough to believe that every major terrorist attack is a conspiracy but that's another thread.

Gullible implies that someone told me, and I believed it. But yes, that would be for another thread.

Idiot.

I think this is just the begining and they are digging themselves a deep hole. Murdoch Snr as head was responsible for corporate governance and failed. There have been questions leading to them making a fool of themselves, such as Davies asking whether or not payments of £1m and £600k were dropped into the conversation Murdoch had with the Editor!! They can deny it as much as they like but nobody will believe they did not know. Whether criminal case can prove it is another matter. Maybe one of those in the headlights further down the food chain will eventually squeal. We can but hope.
