Should these Select Committees really be broadcast live? / Murdoch pie in the face

It's remarkable how both Murdoch Snr & 'Slapper' Brooks seem to have such little knowledge of all the years of wanton skullduggery & criminal behaviour that some of their staff/employees were evidently engaged in. A cynic could well think that it's pretty darn convenient that they should be unable to recall many of the key people & events involving the various cases being investigated, so it's a good job I continue to have every faith in their peerless personal ethics & enduring love for mankind.

God Bless News International! :O

apparently the bloke has now been taken into custardy!

'Tis good to hear. Was it just me who thought the assailant looked somewhat pie-eyed after he was handcuffed?

This hearing is the biggest pile of shite I have ever seen. Murdoch Jr is redefining the words 'hyperbole' and 'evasive' while Murdoch is playing the old Mafia boss trick, pretending to be helpless, clueless and infirm to the court. The questions are far from hard hitting either. This is such a pile of wank it's very appropriate that everyone ended up covered in white stuff

The questions are not going to be hard hitting because that would be dumb way to question them. What they are seeking to do is probably to get them to incriminate themselves through contradiction of known facts or by getting them to answer questions that are beyond belief, ie that the NOTW editor in his conversations to Murdoch Snr, never mentioned £1m payoffs. Also, this is not a court of law and they are not under oath so again to the point questions would be met with those being questioned just refusing to answer.

Well said.

Although there probably could have been some tougher questions and a more serious tone at times, but then if you are a politician you dont want to royaly piss off the gatekeeper by proxy to global public opinion.

So, can you enlighten us to exactly what charge you are proposing against the Murdochs/Brooks and specific evidence you have to support a charge that should lead to a conviction? Thought not. The purpose of all this is to try and get enough evidence but obviously the alleged felons are not willingly going to incriminate themselves. Shoving a foam pie in someones face on camera doesn't need much investigating, even by the corrupt Met.

Not sure it sits well with me.
Showboating politicians in a quasi court rounding on, as yet, innocent individuals. Either have the balls to charge them and get them to a proper court of law or interview them in a more dignified environment.
Bit embarrassing methinks.

All select committees are televised aren't they?
