The Walcott pick was a bit of a slap for the others, like SWP, Defoe and King. I don't know quite what the thinking is for that, it seems a bit of an 'oh well, I feel like having a little bet on an outsider to see what happens'.

Just like Swain Boring Irksome played Hargreaves, and for too many games, it occurs to me that he's a dodgy manager. It also bothers me that he is suddenly 'cavalier' about this one player, yet he declined to put on Joe Cole v Brasil in '02 when we actually and obviously needed that sort of inspirational enthusiasm on the pitch!?

Should have picked him instead of Rooney.

Yes, SWP should go.
He was monumentally stupid (in career terms) signing for Chelsea, as he was pitching himself into a squad that already contained Cole, Robben and Duff. He was NEVER going to get much of a chance with those three in front of him.

However - he is an IMPACT player who can come off the bench and give us something completely different down the right. If Sven ever actually does his job and accepts that Beckham is having a 'mare and subs him, SWP is the perfect player to bring on against tiring legs, and he's always looked pretty decent when he's come on for England.

Lennons time will come, but SWP already has a few caps under his belt and I don't think he'd let England down if he was given the chance.

Easy mate you cant have it both ways - you are slagging off Sven for picking someone who doesnt play and now your doing the same because he didnt pick a player that doesnt play.

Yes, I've slagged him off for picking a player who has NEVER PLAYED at the top level - the same obviously cannot be levelled at SWP.

In the case of Rooney and Owen, well they HAVE to be picked at the moment because theres simply no-one else. Thats not Svens fault, he just has to give them every chance of making it. Shitty deal, but thems the cards he's got to play.

OK, SWP has hardly played this season BUT - he's fit, raring to go, and has looked impressive when coming on for England. His blistering pace is just what you want coming off the bench to shake things up. As I've said elsewhere, I don't violently object to Lennon taking SWP's place, theres really not a lot in it for me. But I'd have leaned more towards SWP as he HAS got a little more International experience, and I just like him.

No, I can't understand the fuss about SWP being "dropped" - anyone that has watched any Prem footie this season must realise that Lennon is a country mile in front of SWP even though he plays for two-bit second string mob like Spurts (expects to be flamed by half the board who apparently are Spurs fans).

What utter bullshit. Lennon has been outstanding this season and thoroughly deserves a place. How many games has SWP played ?

It's hargreaves that should be left behind for SWP, not Lennon.

Is that based on Hargreaves previous England performances, by all accounts he's been excellent for BM this season, and maybe the fact that the finals are in Germany helped his cause, Im sure it did

I don't know how well he has done for bayern but he hasn't done anything more than make up the numbers for england.

Sven said he has picked an attacking squad but i don't recall Hargreaves being a very attacking goal threat for england.
