Why not FFS ?
We have Welsh teams in the Premier League and English Football League AND an English team (Berwick Rangers) playing in the the Scottish Leagues.

Historical anomaly. Live with it. If alcohol hadn't been discovered before, and someone invented it now, it would be banned as a class 'A'. It was, and so it isn't. Welsh clubs in the Football league go back nearly 100 years ffs, just get on with it.

Perhaps it would benefit football in both countries to have a couple of Scottish clubs competing on a level playing field with England's best.

What could work would be combining the league cups, with lower teams only in the lower rounds, and the Prem. and Championship teams only coming in at the later stages - with a European place available. The early rounds could guarantee Scottish clubs a game against English (or possibly Welsh) opposition - over two legs, an Anglo-Scottish tie in the early rounds could be quite an attraction for division 3 and 4 clubs (English and Scottish), maybe even the Conference - oh, sorry, National League - clubs too.

It will never happen because the Scots are terrified of losing their status as a seperate nation in FIFA hence their refusal to engage with the GB team at the Olympics. It would also cause massive problems with European qualification.

Precisely - and they're quite right. One whiff of Celtic and Rangers in the EPL, and England, Scotland, Wales and NI teams would disappear overnight - UEFA and FIFA would love to stuff us, and force us to have just a GB team. No bloody thanks!

Yeah right, could you imagine the policing with the bigger Scottish/English clubs? Totally non viable.

Non viable? Huh! Far less non viable than, say, Birmingham vs. Villa, the Owls vs. the Blades, Stains vs. Skates - or Brighton vs. Palarse for that matter.

I would suggest it is a headache the authorities in all their entities could do without.

There doesn't seem to be any great movement towards a Scandinavian League or Benelux League, so why a British League?

I would have thought Celtic would be happy to pursue a record 10 titles in a row while Rangers would struggle just to stay in the Championship.

It seems to me there are too many teams in Scotland. Inverness merged two into one and have never looked back while neither Dundee side has challenged for the title since the days of Jim McLean more than 30 years ago.

I quite like the idea of the Scotch top league teams joining our league, then after 3 straight relegations being back in the Scotch league.
