[Politics] Should Prince Charles be speaking out about the Rwanda deportations?

So as a commoner, I am free to voice my opinion, but Prince Charles, as a member of the royal family, isn't? Is that your point? I don't recall Charles signing up for that when he was born.

Icy Gull might not have signed up to a life time of paying Charles a shitload of money just because Charles happened to be born in a specific family. Maybe he is even less eager to pay for someone born into being a political influencer through his heritage.

The reason why pretty much every nation in Europe removed the powers from the Kings is because having a king with political influence and power is completely incompatible with democracy. Once royal people start talking, some sentiments of society starts to listen, and then the royal member suddenly has political influence which is maybe fine in Bahrain or Qatar but very strange in a modern developed democracy.

Yeah, but it was a private comment.

Have you removed 'killing someone' from your bucket list yet?

It was and that makes it different in this case, agree with that.

Not yet but I'm heading out soon and who knows what the night might offer?

OK. You are not in favour of royalty having a voice. Imagine, for a moment, being a royal. You have opinions, but if you ever, ever voice one in an unguarded moment, you will be stamped on. For your whole life. That seems a bit draconian.

Are there any other sections of society who you wouldn't allow a voice? The clergy perhaps? Or how about people of a certain nationality, who have never visited the UK? How about Swedes who have never even been to Britain? Would you deny them a voice?

Very easy solution - if you want to be political, you can stop being a royal. No more "draconian" treatment.

The "draconian" treatment of royals is a compromise. You're exposed to a draconian treatment of yourselves - being forced to pay this bloke a lot of money only because hundreds of years ago people thought kings were related to God and therefore should have luxuary, special treatment not based on what they do but based on their bloodline. At some point people figured out that kings are just dudes but allowed the monarchy to keep existing and get their luxuary benefits, with a tradeoff that they should have no power - which includes shutting up when it comes to politics. At least that's how it worked in most countries - over there you seem quite eager to keep the concept "born into power".

Nobody forces me to pay Prince Charles a lot of money. I would happily pay him a lot anyway. Because he's worth it.

I thought you were just off out anyway?

Obviously you would, neo-liberals are always impressed by wealth, even better when it is inherited and accumulated through people - sometimes struggling to get by financially - paying taxes to add more millions to the pockets of this family. All based on them being born into that position rather than achieving anything. The dream of any neo-liberal - vacuum the people and give their hard earned income to those who where born with a silver spoon inside their mouths.

And yes I'm going out now.

There's plenty of money here, 5th biggest economy in the world and Johnson says we have the best growth in the G7.... only problem is the Tory party don't want to fund education and the NHS as that would mean having to tax their pals and the people that own the newspapers who wrongly tell you its the refugees that are causing all our problems.

Always remember, the Tory government want you and your kids educated just enough that you can do a menial job with poor wages and conditions so as you can contribute to Income tax but not so educated enough to understand and ask why are there are huge NHS waiting lists, no NHS Dentists and schools are falling apart and teachers leaving in droves ... The money is here, we don't have to have raw sewage pumped in to our seas, we could have cheaper buses and trains, we shouldn't need food bank charities, we could have a properly funded NHS, we could have a government that exists to make things better for the people it supposedly serves....

Do Liz/Charles have any more real world influence than the Dutch, Swedish or Danish royal familIes?

Here they’re just titular, signing things they have no say in purely as a historical custom, attending the opening of Parliament.

Charles is not adored by the great British public, probably just widespread indifference. People do not look to his next random musing. He’ll be liked today by some people, only because they agree with him. A bit like with Piers Morgan …. lefties liked in the first months of the pandemic when he was a rent-a-gob in attacking the government, then the very same people hated him just months later when he attacked Megan Markle. Like the Archbishops of York and Canterbury, Charles is an anachronism ignored by almost everyone.

Then Charles lesson is choose your friends more carefully or keep quiet…

Charles is going to Rwanda in two weeks time to address the Commonwealth countries. Who said it was friend? It may have been his security. After all, it turns out the murdering rapist of Sarah Everard was in the Royal security squad.

This country isn’t full up. 26% of our doctors were born abroad, so we need immigrants.
How do you know so much about the current state here when you’re in the Czech Republic? Did you read it in the papers?

The whole Royal Family costs £1.50 per person a year for security. Charles gets his income from the Duchy of Cornwall.
You don’t live here (or do you?) but spout off about what is happening in this country.

Perhaps Charles will get the chance to meet some of our illegal immigrants, check on their pastoral care, ensure that proper process is being carried out etc.

And then go again a few months later, unannounced, on a follow-up visit to check that all he had witnessed the first time on his official visit, was really being actioned.

Now - that - would be a good use of a senior member of the royal family, wouldn't it?

Asylum seekers and refugees are not illegal immigrants. The only immigrants that are illegal is those who overstay their visas.

Not much point in having people born into power if you don't give them power.

What else was Boris going to do? All that expensive education would have gone to waste.

Your having a laugh aren’t you ? Have a look at the person per square mile compared to the rest of europe .
we would not need so many doctors if we didn’t have so many people
