I said this 20 years ago when the Londoners arrived in droves and forced property prices up out of reach of the indigenous population.
Brighton used to be a great town and built at the height of the Regency and Victorian era when anything was considered possible. Unfortunately once we hit the 60’s corruption and incompetence set in.
We lost our ice skating rink and the Brighton Tigers, and then the Brighton Bandstand sat neglected since 1972, shortly followed by the abandoning of the West Pier 1975. Even when the Brighton Marina was built it was never really finished to the true design or original aspirations and was left for decades as a slab of concrete in the sea.
To top that we lost the seafront illuminations.
