Should Gus have fielded his strongest eleven??

Easy to blame the reserves, but a lot of your first choicers were the ones having an off day. Murray woeful, and Painter got skinned by their right winger on every counter-attack. Calderon didn't fare much better. Can't believe this was the same (60% of a) side that gibboned us up at The Valley. I guess Gus may have passed on a the-league-is-all-that-matters mentality to the players. Hats off to Woking. Can't believe they are struggling in the BSS given the paciness of their counter attacking...

This is exactly it, its been clear in all 3 cup games that the team are not particularly bothered, promotion is the priority and i tend to agree....nice to have a good day out in the third round but id rather 46 good days out in the championship next season.

It's a learning curve - we really missed Benno as well as Greer, El Abd & Ankergren keeping things in order at the back.

And of course, Woking did the job they set out to do and deserve a great deal of credit for it.

Todays game made it clear that our squad is not good enough if we have injuries or suspensions,we are not going to win the cup so lets get out of this competition and focus on winning the league.

Disagree.

In my view the problem was we made SIX changes. If you brought in just for example Baz but with the rest of the first team out I don't think there'd be too much of a problem.

The half and half approach seemed to disrupt the rythm of our players who play more often, we should have gone either stronger or weaker but had a team more used to playing together. On paper that side was more than good enough.

The players just didn't give a shit; don't think it mattered which players they were.
I don't think it was that they didn't care, just they thought all they had to do was turn up and they'd win in the end. They should care, since many of them were playing for a first team place.

I think the big mistake was playing both Barnes and Murray I would have kept one in reserve to bring on but we didnt have anybody capable of scoring to come on. Surely a half fit Forster, if we had kept him, would have been better than OGH. Where was Sandaza or Adgestein are they both injured.

Not one of the players who came in enhanced their reputations one iota today.
Bridcutt for Kish next game, Sparrow for anyone ?
The Argie boys ? They`ll maybe get a chance to redeem themselves in 10 days time though.

ps hard to have a go at Elphic or Dunk really.

To be honest I was surprised how strong it was. However I think we forget how much we need Bennett and Lua Lua, particularly at home where we need that creativity to unlock packed defences. That's all that was missing today.

I think the whole midfield were missing today. They were dire.

I don't think Gus was too impressed with some of those who had the chance today either.

The side should have been good enough to win and it's puzzling why fringe players, when given the chance in cup games this season, have failed to impress. However, I do think that any one or two, if drafted into the 1st team as cover, could 'do a job'.

The sad fact is that if Barnes or Murray have an off day we do not look likely to score a goal and this has been obvious but not dealt with. It is fair to say our goals have been stretched out to many players but you expect your strikers to be the most likely to score.

If we had sent out a bunch of yuth teamers I could understand most people's attitudes here. But as others have mentioned, almost all the players who started today are first team regulars, it's just they haven't all featured in the last few matches. The only true 'reserves' that started were Dunk and Baz surely?
